Bob and Family,
I was stunned to learn of Ann Marie's sudden passing. This is especially tragic given your recent retirement and no doubt the both of you looking forward to many happy years together. Fate is cruel but God has a plan. As a woman of faith she lead by example and gave her most valuable gift - time - most freely to all those around here - family, friends, students, colleagues, those in spiritual need, etc. This is a huge loss to all but her memory and inspiration live on within you all and our community.

I had the pleasure of working with Anne-Marie for more than 14 years at Dalhousie University. She was the model professor - inspirational and someone you would want to emulate. She exuded passion and dedication towards her students, her discipline, and was a true "colleague" never backing away from the hard work making learning and teaching more enjoyable for everyone. Her absence is a truly palpable sense of loss. AMR's intelligence, influence and positivity have left an indelible impression at Dalhousie and beyond. To the Anne-Marie's family: Gyda chydymdeimlad dwys yn eich colled trist.

I was floored to hear of Anne Marie's passing. To anyone who knew her she always seemed too good for this world. A brilliant teacher, I can say that she single handedly enrolled hundreds of students into Dalhousie's Geology department with her devotion to her craft and her caring nature. Her ability to relate to students and inspire them to challenge themselves caused a ripple effect that affected lives more than she could ever know. Lifelong friendships and successful careers were forged because of her. My deepest condolences to her friends, colleagues, and family. Remember her fondly!

I’ve been reading through letters Mia wrote to me 40 years ago and remembering what she meant to me. Mia was my sister, friend, protector, comforter and adviser. She was fun, generous, genuine, a listener with a big heart ready and wanting to heal whatever ailed and make things brighter. Quick to light up a room and comfortable in silence. Strong and fragile. Wild and grounded. Always humble. She loved, and I see her in every ocean and forest, on every beach, rock and mountain. My thoughts are with Mia’s many cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family, friends, students and colleagues who are grieving, and most of all with Bob, Fiona, Kerrianne, Erin, Emily, Jarvis, Lloyd, Addie, Lex and my siblings, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Rest in Peace Mia in the loving arms of Mum and Dad. I love you and miss you.
