Top 250+ Green Burial Funeral Homes and Cemeteries

With the rise in awareness of the environmental impacts humans are having on our planet, more Americans are choosing to have a green burial to reduce their individual carbon footprint. Through traditional burial, it’s estimated that every year in the U.S. alone, we bury the equivalent of 4 million acres of forest in casket wood and 800,000 gallons of formaldehyde, a toxic chemical that can then get absorbed into the earth, air and water. Even cremation, which is generally considered to be more environmentally friendly, uses the same amount of energy as a 500-mile car trip each time.

That's why we've put together a list of 203 funeral homes and 61 cemeteries across 37 US states that the Green Burial Council has certified based on a set of standards to be considered green burial providers.
