ZJ was my first mentor in the industry. Coming from the same college, same department, he generously shared lots of his genuine experience over the years both on career and personal life. He practiced Tsinghua’s motto in a fulfilling lifespan: 天行健 君子以自强不息, 地势坤 君子以厚德载物。
Deep condolences to his family and rest in peace.

My deepest sympathies to ZJ's family. ZJ is a remarkable leader, he was always passionate about science and especially external visibility of cool science we do at work. I'm truly appreciative of the significant impact made by ZJ on my career at BMS. ZJ is smart, humble, and also had a great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed.

I worked in the analytical development team under ZJ’s leadership in BMS. ZJ was not just a remarkable leader but someone who genuinely cared about his team and those around him. His wisdom and dedication to his work inspired us who had the privilege of working with him. We will always remember ZJ not only for his professional excellence but also for his kindness and leadership. He will be greatly missed by everyone at BMS.

ZJ is a good friend of mine. We stayed in the same hotel and had breakfast together almost every day and went to gym over the weekends while we were in Shanghai. It is shocking and saddening to hear his passing. He will be remembered for his friendship and support to people around him. At this difficult time, let's celebrate his life and love to his family and people whom he most cares about.

ZJ was my first boss when I started at BMS 10 years ago and he quickly became my favorite boss. His joyful spirit, offhand remarks, and upfront honesty were something that very few people possess and I admired him greatly. He was always supportive of me and helped me to achieve more than I thought I could. I thought of him as more of a friend than a boss and enjoyed our conversations so much. He always brought a smile to my face. As his assistant, he would tell me many stories about his family and you could always see how proud he was of them and how much his wife and children meant to him. I am sending my deepest sympathy and sincere condolences to them and his family in China. May the memories you have of him bring you much comfort.

My sincerest sympathies to his family. I always appreciated ZJ, especially at his staff meetings. He really did have a no nonsense approach that was at times unintentionally funny, but his dedication to his team was both easy to see and profound. He will certainly be missed by his BMS family.

I extend my strongest sympathies and condolences to ZJ's family. He was a good man, who cared about his coworkers. He had a good sense of humor, and would always make me laugh in our 1:1 meetings with his candid stories- he had no "filter", he spoke his mind. ZJ had a very strong impact on my career. ZJ personally recruited me to work for Bristol Myers Squibb when I was working for another company. While he would give me positive feedback, he was also brutal with his constructive feedback, but I honestly appreciate his candor. Sometimes we need to hear the truth, even when it's difficult to hear, to improve ourselves. ZJ was always a strong advocate for me in my career. I remember a specific time when I went to talk to him after not getting a position that I had applied for internally. I was disappointed, and his feedback was essentially, it's their loss, which instantly made me feel better, more than an extended pep talk. I will miss ZJ. May he rest in peace. -Angela Lewandowski

Dear Jun, Christopher, Isabelle, and Shophia,
I can't explain how much ZJ's passage has saddened me. I've tried to write this numerous times and could not finish it. ZJ meant the world to me. I met him in 1994 when he freshly arrived in the US. He and I sparked a lifelong friendship - one that I cherished. We roomed together for a few years and during this time is when he met Jun. He was so proud and happy to have met you (Jun). He would show pictures and speak long about you and your life in China, and even what he was planning once you moved here. On one of those nights he wanted to send you a CD with Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here on it. He was so excited to start his life with you.
While living together he would talk often about politics - man did he love talking about US politics - with me and our landlord. He would watch PBS and then have long debates about the state of the country, current events, elections, etc. As you know, he was passionate about everything he liked.
While at UMBC, my brother got sick and was having trouble making up the work. One of his classes was Chinese. When Li (as we called him then) found out. He took it upon himself to find out who was my brother's teacher and talk to her to get my brother some help and so leniancy to complete the course and get a good grade. He has such a kind heart and was such a caring man.
I could go on and on about ZJ. He was a great friend, and a friendship that I will always cherish. He left us way too soon.
With all of my syphathy and condolences and love,Ron
