Ying-Chiau's obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Ying-Chiau "Ying" Cheng, a remarkable woman whose extraordinary spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. Ying-Chiau, who departed from this world on June 15, 2025, was born in 1939, a grounding fact that served as testament to her rich and meaningful life. She is survived by her husband, daughter, son, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, and 4 grandchildren.
With a personality that was warm, vivacious, and driven, Ying-Chiau was a beacon of light to her family, friends, and community. Her unmatched resilience and tenacity were visible in every aspect of her life and she constantly encouraged others to embody these virtues. "Never give up," she would often say, a testament to the steely resolve that underscored her existence.
Ying-Chiau was an accomplished seamstress and a tailor whose exceptional handiwork was not only her livelihood but also an expression of her instinctive creativity. She was also an ardent supporter and leader in the Cincinnati Taiwanese community, helping with the Folk Festival culture, merchandise, and food booths, and sewing the dance costumes for several years. Above all, she was profoundly proud of her children and grandchildren. They were, in her eyes, her greatest achievement and the most meaningful testament to her life.
Kindness and generosity were the cornerstones of Ying-Chiau's legacy. The love she gave freely and abundantly resonates in the lives of those she impacted, creating concentric ripples of her endless capacity for warmth and love.
Ying-Chiau's absence will profoundly be felt by her family and the community she ardently served and loved. As we mourn her loss, let us reflect on the life she led and the lessons she left us with.
In lieu of flowers, a fund has been organized in her memory for the American Parkinson Disease Association. Donations to this cause that was close to Ying-Chiau's heart would be a fitting tribute to her life and legacy. Contributions can be made at the following web address: https://everloved.com/life-of…
Though we bid farewell to Ying-Chiau, we take heart in the knowledge that her spirit, lived through resilience, generosity, and ceaseless love, continues to inspire us all.
