Dear Ching Family,

I am so sorry for your loss. I didn’t know your family but I came across the obituary. It looks like Ying-Chiau lived a long life, but it’s still never easy to loose someone we love. Death affects us all deeply. Thankfully, the Bible gives us comfort. In John 11:11, Jesus compares death to sleep, a peaceful rest. And just like we wake up from sleep, Jehovah promises to wake our loved ones too. Acts 24:15 reminds us of the beautiful hope of the resurrection. I hope this brings you comfort and strength as you look forward to seeing your loved ones again.

In memory of Mrs Ying-Chiayi Ying Cheng.

She always greeted  everyone with a big smile and inspired everyone to “ always try your best to contribute the common good”. She loved our common jones and Taiwan with all her heart and soul! We missed her dearly!

Sharing stories on behalf of my mom and dad. When my father passed, I got to spend some time with the many wonderful parents of the Cincinnati Taiwanese community again. When my mother found out "Ru-fong's mommy and daddy" (as she calls them to me!) were driving all the way from New Jersey to attend my father's memorial, my mother was moved to tears. At a dinner shortly after, many people including my mother would talk about how hard all the mothers would cook and prepare for the many wonderful events we grew up with in the 80s and 90s. Everyone agreed that Mrs. Cheng was the BEST cook in Cincinnati, with my mom a potential #2! I remember my mother also helping her with both cooking and sewing projects growing up, and her being very talented.  For me personally, I remember when my parents drove me to college in Rhode Island and stopped in New Jersey to see everyone again and I got to see her in her new home.  We are very grateful for all the time our families got to spend together, all the way from Hsinchu to Cincinnati, and are very sorry for your loss!

From Mrs. Huei Connally from Cincinnati:

I am deeply sorry to hear that Ying Chiau has passed away. May she rest in peace. Please accept my sincere condolences.

She is a very special lady to me. During early years when she was in Cincinnati, I taught children and adults dances for many years, she not only helped making all the performers clothes, she also participated in many dances too. She also was an amazing singer. When I was directing Cincinnati choir group , she sang well, also made lady’s long skirts as the choir’s uniform for us. I have numerous pictures of her participating in the choir and dances, but they’re all in Cincinnati home.

I wish I could be there for her celebration of life. Unfortunately, I am unable to attend I’m currently in Southport NC.

Wish all the best to 憲章兄and families.

Huei-Chi Connally

I am so sorry for your loss. I have such fond memories of Mrs Cheng and of being at the Chengs home in Ohio for Taiwanese gatherings. I remember my Mom telling me about her amazing sewing skills and remember a yellow dress she made. Keeping you in my thoughts and sending love to you all.
