I was so very sad to hear this news, as our holiday card was returned. I met Willis as a new young professor at Rolla, his Alma mater. He was the most welcoming and supportive as a professional mentor and friend. He's going to be missed by many I am sure.

Willis was my manager and mentor when I was just a year out of college, teaching me not only engineering but the importance of relationships and connection with clients and other engineers. He calmed me when I was nervous about my licensing test, talked me through my mistakes those early years so I would learn, and always respected me and those around him. I truly enjoyed working for him and learning from him - he has shaped the engineer I am today and he will be greatly missed.

I've known Willis 50+ years from our days at Burns & McDonnell. After I retired Willis asked me to help recruit a few people for Aqua Tech ie PhD engineer. I enjoyed Willis sense of humor, laid back manner. He was well liked and respected--a good engineer and mentor. I'll miss my friend Willis.

I worked with Willis for over ten years on various wastewater projects. He was the only engineer I ever saw that would listen to the needs of the customer.
