William (Bill) Richard Rooney, 87, of Buena Vista, Virginia passed away Thursday morning August 14th, 2025 after battling a long-term illness. He was born March 12th, 1938 in New Brunswick, New Jersey to William and Bernadette Rooney.

Bill was preceded in death by Rita his wife of 60 years to which he was ever committed.

Bill is survived by his daughter Karen Lazo with her husband Albert Lazo, his son Kevin Rooney with his wife Dana Rooney and their children, Grayson and Isabelle, his son Brian Rooney with his wife Melissa Rooney and their children Sophia and Zane, and his daughter Kristin Davidson with her husband Steve Davidson and their son Daniel.

We celebrate Bill’s life of everlasting, unconditional love for anything outdoors, steadfast commitment to his wife, and faith in God in all instances on August 30th, 2025 at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Lexington, Virginia at 11am.
