William's obituary
William Kiely Omura passed away unexpectedly on June 14, 2023 at the age of 36 in San Francisco, California. Kiely was born on November 15, 1986 in Daegu, South Korea. He was adopted by his parents, Gary & Beth Omura, and placed in their loving arms on March 4, 1987 in San Jose, California.
Kiely was a very early reader and often could be found on the bookstore or library floor reading a book. He loved playing video games and sports with his friends and later became a big fan of the San Jose Sharks, San Francisco Giants, Manchester United soccer team and Chicago Bears (contrary to his 49er season ticket holding father).
Kiely graduated from Branham High School in 2005 and for a graduation gift went to Hawaii with his family, then later visited family in Japan with his grandfather and father before continuing onto South Korea with his good friend, Andy. Kiely graduated from UC Davis with a Bachelor's degree in Communications in 2010 and was a member of the Delta Chi fraternity, where he made lifetime friends.
Kiely worked in Silicon Valley Tech companies including Guidespark, Zenefits, Yahoo, Egain and Sage Intacct.
Kiely loved to travel and has visited many US states, Canada, Japan, South Korea, England & Scotland and Northern Europe with family members, and Taiwan and Vietnam with good friends. He enjoyed learning about the different cultures and tasting their foods.
We will all miss Kiely's sensitivity, compassion, in depth knowledge of so many topics, articulate writing, sense of fashion, humor and his zest for life through life's many struggles.
Kiely is survived by his father Gary, mother Beth, sister Taylor Liles of Hawaii (Jeff), niece Piper Liles, nephew Milo Liles, many uncles, aunts and cousins in Indiana and California, and his cat Nori.
