Wayne's obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wayne Pleasant. Born on August 22, 1975, Wayne left us far too soon on April 24, 2024. His hearty laughter, keen intellect, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all those fortunate enough to have known him.

Wayne was a person of incredible strength, often described as loud, bold, and living large. He was unashamedly nerdy and had a caring and generous nature that touched those around him. His authenticity was one of his defining qualities, encouraging us all to be true to ourselves, regardless of the opinions of others. His legacy, being a Phoenix who rose from the ashes regardless of childhood circumstances and trauma, reflects his resilience and tenacity.

Despite the challenges in his life, Wayne excelled in many areas. He took on the role of father figure for his younger sibling and other young men in the community. His dedication was recognized when he won the "100 Black Men of Atlanta Hank Aaron Member of the Year Award". His skill and competitive spirit were on display when he won the longest drive contest at the Steve Harvey Invitational Golf Classic; he was also a World Series of Poker Event Winner. He was not just a man of success, but a man of value who contributed to society.

Above all, Wayne will be remembered for the lives he touched with his kindness, generosity, and unique ability to bring people together. He made a difference in many people's lives, and because of that, his spirit will continue to live on within all those who were blessed to know him.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne Lee Pleasant Sr., Robin Pleasant and his grandparents, Joseph Pleasant and Joyce Pleasant. He is survived by his wife, Dana Pleasant, and stepdaughter Danielle Young. He also leaves behind his brother, Philip Pleasant, and nephews Philip (PJ) Pleasant, Jr. and Jordan Pleasant and their mother, Jametria Pleasant.  As well as his extended family: Cousins Tanisha Hall Pleasant Leon, Laneaya Curtis, Natonya Sellers, Joey Curtis, Crystal Duncan.  His closest aunts and uncles, Johanna Miller, Jonathan Pleasant, Matthew Pleasant, Dana Pleasant, Kim Brown. His surrogate family, The Kousers and closest friends, Obi Nwude, Brian Parker and Andrea Harrison.  As well as a large extended family and countless friends.

In lieu of flowers, funds are being raised to honor Wayne's memory. You may show your support by donating to the "Wayne's Light & Legacy Memorial" fund at https://everloved.com/life-of…. We are humbled by your expressions of love and support during this difficult time.

While we mourn the loss of our beloved Wayne, we also celebrate the extraordinary life he led. His journey may have been cut short, but his impact will be forever felt. Rest in peace, Wayne.
