Warren's obituary
Warren Pete Chatmon, IV was born on December 15, 1941 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Warren Pete Chatmon, III and LaVerne Guice Chatmon. Warren was the first of their two children and was affectionately called "Buddy" by family members. His classmates and friends called him Pete.
Warren was educated in the Birmingham, AL school system and attended Washington Elementary School where he made lifelong friends.
He was a Boy Scout and played trumpet in the band.
In 1959, he graduated from A.H. Parker High School and was inducted into Who's Who Among High School Students and Leaders. Always very charismatic, Warren was elected Vice President of the City and Statewide Student Council.
After high school, Warren attended Howard University in Washington, DC for two years. He earned his undergraduate, BA
degree in Business Administration from Miles College in Birmingham. While at Miles he pledged Kappa
Alpha Psi Fraternity and was a devoted life long member.
Warren earned his MBA degree from the Wharton School of
Finance at the University of Pennsylvania. He interned at Kidder Peabody and worked on Wall Street for many years before
opening his own firm Chatmon Capital. Warren was a "bon vivant" and student of the world who enjoyed spending time with people and could converse with anyone on any subject. He loved Cuban Cigars, fine wines and scotch. He had his own sense of style in the way he dressed and he indeed loved to dress. He also loved all kinds of music, especially country, jazz and all of
Motown.
Warren followed in his father's footsteps as an excellent cook and grill-master. Everyone looked forward to cookouts where he grilled steaks, ribs, hotdogs and hamburgers. He prided himself on his "secret BBQ sauce". Warren loved fast cars and had many over his lifetime; Mercedes Benzes, BMW's, Austin Healy, Volvo, TR6, Jaguar XKE, and the Porsche 911, to name a few.
After fighting the good fight against Parkinson’s Disease, Warren passed on September 2nd in Salinas, CA. His eldest daughter, Kimberlee, preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish fond memories, his loving and devoted wife, Carol Ann; his loving sister Gwendolyn; his children Jennifer, Tait (David), Pete (Kelly), Adam, Alisa (Brian), Austin (Kayla); his grandchildren Khyle Scott, Ari, Max, Hendrix, Mason, Silas, Eastyn, and Indigo; his nephew James; his great-grandchildren Khylan and Kimmary; and his great-niece Arianna. He is also survived by a host of cousins,
other relatives and friends.
