We went to visit Tom and took this photo at his senior condo. Tom was our best friend in YMCA college in Hong Kong. Then we met again in Toronto in 1970's. He was our best man at our wedding in Toronto.
Tom C. Tso's Eulogy Tom Tso's faith started in his high school years. He attended YMCA sponsored christian high school in Hong Kong. There he studied the Bible and learned to fear God. He came to United States in 1969 to studied Engineering Science in South Dekoda State University and continue his masters study in Colorado State University. There he enjoyed Christmas caroling with friends, but essentially remained skeptical until his wedding in Seattle 1981. The marriage lead Tom back to chruch life, He sang in choir, attended Bible study in Calgary Presbyterian Christian Church, and his first son Justin Edward Tso was born. Tom was transferred to Singapore from 1984 to 1986 by his Canadian Engineering Consulting firm to start an Asian Subsidiary, there he was a regular Sunday worshiper, and his daughter Tammy-Jayne Cadance Tso was born. Tom was invited to join an New subsidiary in Atlanta at the end of his foreign assignment. There Tom was able to see how God graced him with family, opportunities, provision, and enriched experiences. 1989 God opened a gospel door for Chinese people in Marietta. Tom joined in the start of the Chinese Mission at Johnson Ferry Baptish church, while God blessed him with his third child Leighton Stephen Tso. He gradually gets more and more involved taking on the leadership role in growing this church, standing on palpit sharing the Good News. God blessed him with his forth child Anna-Jayne Jocelyn Tso. Tom was the chairman of deacons in Chinese mission from the beginning of this church government and continued to lead until the first pastor was called in 1996. Tom started seminary study in New Orleans Baptist seminary in 1996, taking 1 course per semester while holding down IT management job in an Engineering consulting firm. He graduated with Master of Divinity degree in 2008. Pastor Mao was called back to Taiwan in 2009, so he handed the Chinese Mission to Tom. Tom pastored there until 2011, when he was diagnosed with Parkinson disease, he stepped down. Tom spent 10 month in Hong Kong to maximize his time with his mother in 2012 and visited her in the subsequent years. Tom participated in the translation of Reasonablefaith.Org website and he continue to write in his retirement years. We celebrate that Tom has completed his work on earth and he has entered into peace to rest with his Lord.
Tom's passing is a deep sorrow to me and to many of our high school classmates. Tom was a talent and a top student among us in high school. Tom and I shared a lot of good time together in Hong Kong, particularly during our late high school years. I regret that I could not make it to Atlanta to see Tom as scheduled in 2018 and I did not try again in 2019, something I can never forgive myself. May Tom rest in peace with God.
My deepest condolences to Anna and the Tso family.
My deepest condolences to the Tso family for your loss. Tom was a mentor to me as I was finishing up seminary and taking my first steps into pastoral ministry. He was so encouraging at a time when I needed it, and I am so grateful to have known him. May the love and peace of Jesus comfort each of you.
