Kunjchayan(Thomas Mathew) was my first cousin, being son of his late mother's brother, in India. I have the privilege of knowing dear Achayan since  my childhood  days. He was an ever caring, affectionate and down to earth elder family member to me and to all of us in the family, who used to walk the extra mile to help us. We miss dear Achayan.
He was blessed with an equally caring and loving life partner in dear late Thressiammamma. They used to visit each one of their relatives in India, whenever they visited India. We have fond memories about this blessed couple. We miss  them very dearly.
I had the privilege of meeting Achayan along with my wife Omana and children many times in his home at Long Island, N.Y and else where, during our visits to our son Ashish and family settled in US.
The above picture and two other ones, were taken on 12th June, 2022 at dear Bill and Simi's house when we last visited Achayan last.
Our, as well as our large family's deepest condolences to dear Simi,Haydon and Lisa, who are equally dear to us, and to many other dear ones in the family at the time of this grief to all of us.
The departed noble soul had a full and satisfying life. Thank God for dear Achayan's life......

Kunjchayan (Thomas Mathew) was my second cousin. He was the epitome of love and selfless kindness. When I immigrated to the US, he was the first Malayali I saw when I came out after customs clearance. The Air India flight, scheduled for 4 pm, arrived very late at 10:00 pm, but he was still waiting to receive me. During my first-year pre-degree vacation, I went to Bombay to take an entrance examination. I didn't know anyone there except Kunjchayan. Even though he was working at the shipyard that day, he sent his roommate to pick me up from the railway station and made sure I had lunch. When he came home in the evening, he took me out to explore the city, which included my first ride on a double-decker bus. Later, he took me to a special place that served good Malayali fish curry. While I was in India for my mother's funeral, my wife's father fell ill and she had to make an emergency trip to India with our son. In my absence, Kunjchayan helped her at JFK. She fondly remembers how he brought her a carry on bag at the airport. We will deeply miss him.
