We were devastated to hear of Dr.  Elston's passing. We weren't sure what happened but found ourselves at another "Cat Hospital" after his practice closed. Thank you for reaching out and allowing us to participate virtually in the celebration of his life. It's evident his never-ending compassion was nurtured by a loving family, close colleagues, friends, and amazing veterinarian staff. I can hear him laughing at us right now seeing we have FOUR cats, and we swore we'd never love the next as much or more than the one that passed and insisted it would be impossible for us to own another. We are thankful for the sincere support he offered as he helped us make the hardest decisions we ever had to make in life. His tender yet studied approach while examining our critters, his dry (but very funny) humor and especially the "cat world" changing advice he's given us over the 20 years he's tended to our "children." Thank you!

Happy boys with their new Dr. Elston doll in 2020. — with Coco and Cosmo
I'm so sorry for the loss of Dr. Elston. He was such a great doctor for my cats, Wallaby & Nazka and whenever we visited The Cat Hospital, he always made us feel at ease. I will miss him greatly.
My best memory of Dr Elston was when he would help at the Marina del Rey hospital, versus the Tustin location. His help was always greatly appreciated as the hospital is always on high demand. As we were still curbside during the pandemic, it wasn't uncommon to find Dr Elston writing doctors notes with a kitten/cat or two on his lap while he worked. One memory in particular were two cat patients who he had in his lap while typing with one hand and flipping through paper records with the other hand. He loved cats. This showed every time he came to our clinic. I like to believe he's still with all the cats that passed during his time in vet med, and he's tending to them until they can be reunited with their owners. Rest in peace Dr Elston.

We are so grateful for the amazing and compassionate care we received from Dr Tom Elston. Wonderful person and the best vet one could ask for! We miss him.

Susan Anderson, Tony Kubiak, Daniel Kubiak, and, of course, Condi the kitty.

My cat family and I were very lucky when Tom started his practice in Irvine and then later when he moved to Tustin.  Several generations of my cats were lovingly taken care of by Tom.  His knowledge of cat veterinary care was second to none.  He was able to diagnose issues that otherwise might have gone unnoticed. He was calm and gentle with even the most "challenging" of my cats.  The Cat World lost a true champion when Tom passed.
Dr. Elston was the best. He wasn't just the best cat vet, he was the best vet, and one of the best people too. He was highly intelligent, methodical, thorough, careful, but most of all kind and compassionate to his feline patients and their caregivers. I brought my first cat Hunter to Dr. Elston in 2006 and Hunter is still alive and (slowly and gently) kicking thanks so much to Dr. Elston's care. I have still not found a vet clinic or vet anywhere close to as good as T.H.E. Cat Hospital, and I greatly miss Dr. Elston. I am sure he is surrounded by so many, many animal friends (even the ones who didn't quite understand or appreciate his care at the time) across the Rainbow Bridge. God bless Dr. Elston!
