Thommy Dortch, Jr.  will truly be missed.  I just want to say "THANKS" for sharing your life with THE Fort Valley State University!  A WILDCAT all the way!

A true Giant has fallen..Mr Thomas Dortch Jr. was a mentor, business man, community advocate and more—but most of all he truly had a moment to help the next business professional.

Serving as our current Board Chair of my church New Birth, he has held positions with entities such as the National Chair for 100 Black Men of America, Inc, Grady Memorial Hospital Corporation, The Atlanta Business League, Clark Atlanta University, and Talladega College- and more.

If you did not know him, you truly missed out. Praying for the family of Mr Dortch, our NB family and all of the communities he impacted.

I first met Mr. Dortch in New Orleans 100 Black Annual Conference. After many conversations, i shared we had a very close mutual friend and the flood gates opened that night with love. Years later, i ran into Mr. Dortch at Rust College and we keep the conversation going from New Orleans lol. Thank you my brother all you've done! As we share the same birthday, i will celebrate with an additional cheers to you.

Husband, father, son, businessman, philanthropist, community and political activist, champion of education and opportunity, voice for the voiceless...Mr. Dortch has been all of these things and so much more to countless people from all walks of life.  Above all he was an even better human being whose gift to the world is an incredible and undeniable legacy of service. Thank you, Mr. Dortch, for your commitment to service, dedication, perseverance, sage counsel and inspiration.  Anyone who has had the pleasure to spend any amount of time with you is the better for it.  I certainly am, and for that I'll always be grateful.  A life well lived. Rest in eternal power.

Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. -Matthew 25:23

I will never forget how Tommy could calm the whole FVSC campus. The entire student body respected him so much. We knew then that he would be a great man. He was that and much more...man's humanity to man.  Truly God touched him and he shared his life with so many. Rest in peace, Tommy.  The work you've done speaks for you.

There are no words to adequately express the sorry so many of us are experiencing.  I know nothing can compare to what this loss means to you, so I pray for your peace. Your extended family loved Tommy and we also love you. Mr. Dortch's work was complete and he earned his wings. We rejoice knowing that he is FREE and at PEACE. Rest In Power TWD!

I entered the waiting area, surprise to see TWD sitting there. I introduced myself and he graciously reciprocated. I informed him that I was the former Head of Media and Marketing for Bishop Eddie L. Long and New Birth MBC. He asked, why former? I responded, “I finished my course and that God has a much bigger plan for my life”. I mentioned that my plan was to launch my own church media and marketing consulting firm. He immediately encouraged me to do it. He dropped GOLDEN NUGGETS that catapulted me into action. One week later, I established my LLC, launched my company and it changed me and my families life forever. Thank you Mr. Dortch for taking a few minutes of your valuable time to essentially change my life forever! RIP Mr. Thomas W. Dortch, Jr. ❤️
