Thoompunkal family with Appac…
Thoompunkal family with Appachen and Ammachi
Appacha was always so kind and so loving to us whenever we saw him. I always thought of him as a foster grandfather for all of the Thoompunkal family. It will be a beautiful day in Heaven when all of our loved ones can be together again.
So sad my upappaan also gone . Can't bear the news. I am still wishing the he gets his life back SHEEBA CHACKO
Who will be there for us again? I was always proud of uppapan and Ammama. They supported me so much when I first went to Sharjah. KAVITHA
Saddened to hear this.. Anytime we met Babu Uncle, he always shared the faith inspiring stories of Thoompunkal Ammachi.. Thoompunkal Amachi’s faith inspired me always and so did Babu Uncle’s zest and zeal for the Lord!! He would tell sheenachachen, “parayada Sheenae...”, and will talk about Bible. It is a big loss for all left behind and my heart saddens for Aunty, Manoj &fly, Reji &fly, Jyoti &fly.. As written in 2 Timothy 4:7, Babu uncle can surely say - “ I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith”.. what a legacy to leave behind.. my prayers to all the family.. Babuppappan, was not only an uncle but a father to all of us. It seems this was my fathers early words to my mother, ‘ Josy, I have a younger brother who looks like me; I want to educate him and make him successful in life’! And indeed my mother accomplished it. I grew up loving him from the age of 2 while he was living with us at Kollam. He used to keep ‘a chooral’ or a cane telling me ‘ yajamaanan’ means ‘master’ is looking at you to discipline me tho he did not use it at all. He took the head place in the dining table as our dad was in the military. Uppappan shared the responsibilities of running the house, looking after us kids & won my mothers admiration, praise with ease. He was my mothers apple of the eye! I hav heard my mother saying, ‘ I can lock Babu with any number of 16 yr old girls but i can guarantee that they will be safe in his company’! I remember one hilarious incident when i was 4 yrs old. Uppappan bought a lottery ticket; the first prize was a car; he told me that i was surely going to win it & uppappan & I made plans to find parking slot in the compound. Afterwards he said he will park the car in the bathroom !!!! I had grt expectations. But later he told me, I didnt win it which ended up in tears!!!😭 I used to sneak into uppappans room. My lil eyes never caught the attention of any thing else but just one old well used rugged book- the Bible! It was fully underlined with the blue water ink! Never realised he was mastering ‘the Book of Books’ at a tender age of 18 when most of his age boys wud have been up to mischief! Two years ago i witnessed at my mothers funeral the Gideons & the Bible Society giving homage to my mother. Uppappans legacy is carried by all his children , nieces & nephews so much so as I write this I am proud to say that Uppappaaa, ur lil niece is in the forefront as a Life time Gideons friend and Life time sponsor of the Bible Society. During my last visit, I quizzed him to know if he knew ‘Mary Jones’ & he told me he knew her very well. I am indeed proud to receive such inheritance of faith from stalwarts like Babuppappan, my mother & our ammamas! His first trip from Dubai while I was in yr 5, made waves among my little friendship grp. When I announced his death one of them from Australia said, ‘Isnt he the one who brought a drumming doll?’ Sosammama ‘ the woman behind this man of God’ worried he was working tirelessly doing so much for the Church, for the school, for oganisations .....etc! Indeed Babuppappan worked hard for expanding His Kingdom as St Paul says in Philippians 3/14 , ‘ I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenwards in Christ Jesus’! Babuppapan was ahead of all of us in this race He has reached the finish point first and is taken to be adorned with glorious heavenly crown; we each still have to run the race and reach the finish point. Amen
Let the peace of heaven that surpasses human understanding come and rest on each of us; let Jesus hold each one of us and comfort us and we will seek more and more the things of heaven than of this world VENEETHA
