Sue and her husband were always inspirational to me.  She had her feet in many worlds and graciously walked through them all.

I first met Sue in May 1968, when my then husband, Chuck, and our seven-month-old daughter, Karen, were moving into a house across the street from Sue, Denny, and their four-year-old daughter, Laura. Sue walked over and welcomed us to the neighborhood, and we immediately became friends. We raised our children together, including their son, Andy, and my second husband, Lance's son, Steven. Sue became like a second "Mom" to Karen.

We lived in that house twenty-two years, and always Sue's house was the place family and friends gathered. The annual Fourth of July and Super Bowl parties are especially memorable. Sue with her smile, warmth, and ability to make everyone feel welcome into their home was truly very special. After we moved away, we always stayed in touch and visited when we could. I am so grateful my daughter, Karen, granddaughter, Kat, and her boyfriend, Payton and I got to celebrate my birthday earlier this year with Sue and some of the family. Photos and memories of that trip now are very precious.

Sue will be so missed by myself and our entire family. My sympathy goes out to her family for the loss of a very special lady.

Growing up on Mantova was the best. Having the Wolfe family as neighbors was like having an extended family and Sue was like a second mom to me. There are so many childhood memories and stories that I hold dear. I remember Sue teaching me how to swim, trips in the van, dancing and singing 50's tunes from the jukebox, her bringing us snacks in the playhouse or under the big T, driving with me when I had my permit and learning stick shift, being the best party hostess, and her great sense of fun and adventure.  Even though years may have gone by between my visits to Long Beach, she was always so welcoming, generous, and her house felt like home. She definitely contributed to my love of animals, amusement park rides, and going to the beach.  Sue was truly special, and I will miss her so much.

My sincere condolences to the family. Sue was an awesome lady. I always loved to hear about her trips and pets. I knew Sue from Nar Anon. She was a joy to know and we always enjoyed her cooking and baked goodies. She is missed.

Angela O.

My prayers & deepest sympathy are with you all.  I’ll miss Sue’s creative & artistic Halloween cookies, smile & willingness to always read our daily testimony for our NarAnon support group.  I pray & hope that her legacy will live in every one’s hearts and continue forever.

This is not goodbye but ‘til we meet again in Heaven!  God bless you all!

Love in Christ,

Aida

Our friendship began on a Friday morning at El Dorado park in Long Beach when I first met Denny. We were setting out our sheets for the first Friday night concert of the Long Beach Municipal Band. I met Sue that evening & we became Muni Band friends from that night on over 20 years ago!!
