Susan's obituary
Susan was the eldest of five children, born to parents Dr. Richard Tallmadge Sweet and Jane Eaton Sweet in Middletown, CT. She fostered lasting friendships at the Mary A. Burnham School and Skidmore College, and went on to teach dance before becoming a standout in radio sales and a business advocate.
Susan was a mother to one daughter and two sons, stepmother to a third son, and "Omi" to her beloved granddaughter. When her kids were young, Susan was known for intricate handmade Halloween costumes and hosting unforgettable family Christmas parties. In the subsequent decades, Susan was an avid UConn Women's Basketball fan, a lover of Broadway tunes, a capable landscaper, and the purveyor of exceptional homemade lemon cookies. Her later years in Portland & East Hampton allowed her to enjoy countless fond memories with her siblings, nieces, and nephews.
Susan was predeceased by her parents Richard and Jane, her sister-in-law Dana Sweet, and her brother-in-law Aurelio Grisolini. Susan will be lovingly remembered by her children: Mickey, Emily, Austin (Porscha), and Christian (Erin). Susan will be sincerely missed by granddaughter Zoe, as well as her original "grandchild," Christian's dog Buddy. She is survived by siblings Barbara, Holly (Robert), Richard (Jerilyn), and Jeffrey (Linda), as well as nearly a dozen loving nieces, nephews, and their children. Many of these extraordinary relatives were instrumental in Susan's care and comfort during her final battles with illness; their support provided her a lasting peace for which she was truly grateful.
Private family services will be held later in the year. In lieu of flowers, those who so desire may contribute in Susan's name to Middlesex Hospital's fund, Food for the Frontline.
