Susan's obituary
- Family and friends mourn the passing of Susan Gertrude Krix, age 98, formerly of Blissfield Michigan on Dec 1, 2021. Known lovingly as "Nanny," she was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Born Susan Bartelme in Chicago on November 30, 1923, she was the daughter of immigrant parents Johannes and Gertrude Bartelme from Hungary.
When she was just 5 years old, her family moved back to Hungary to escape the hardship of the Great Depression. There in the little village of Katymar she met her future husband Joseph Krix, a violinist.
To Escape war-torn Hungary Susan moved back to the States with her daughter Theresa to be near her sister Mary in Akron Ohio. Soon after Joseph joined them in the states, and started a new life in Blissfield Michigan. He taught music in Toledo Public Schools and played violin in the Toledo Symphony Orchestra. After settling down in Blissfield they had two more children.
Susan worked various jobs over the years and worked tirelessly as a mother and homemaker.
After her husband's death in 2005 Susan resided with her oldest daughter Theresa and was cared for by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, as well as many members of her church community. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her three children, Theresa (Nate) Oswald of Jasper, MI, Rosemary Lipp of Fort Wayne, IN, and John (Kelli) Krix of Glendale, AZ. Her grandchildren, Connor Krix, Garrett Krix, Dillon Krix, Natalie (Oswald) Lorichon, Michael Oswald, Heidi (Lipp) Stratton, and Kelly (Lipp) Leinhos and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband and 2 sisters.
A small funeral was held at Purse Funeral Home on December 6th, 2021 at 1pm, followed by a burial at Pleasant View Cemetery in Blissfield Michigan. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you plant a tree for Nanny
