Susan's obituary
Susan Lynn Couch (Crum), age 59, passed away on March 15, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio. Born on April 1, 1965, also in Dayton, she remained deeply connected to her hometown throughout her life.
Susan was a woman of remarkable resilience and unwavering strength. From a young age, she faced challenges that would have overwhelmed many, yet she met each one with courage and determination. Her ability to persevere through adversity shaped the strong, loyal, and caring person she became—qualities that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Troy Dale Couch Sr., her parents Larry and Willa Crum, and her only sister Barbra Quatman. Their memories lived on in Susan’s heart and continued to guide her as she built a life centered around love and family.
Susan had a very beautiful and blended family, with some of her grandchildren, being step grandchildren but she loved them all the same and was proud to be there grandma. One of her greatest qualities when it came to family was that DNA does not make a family love and support do.
Susan was the proud mother of three children: Larry Paul Couch, Troy Dale Couch Jr., and Erica Lynn Couch. Her legacy continues through her eleven grandchildren: Elexis Williams, Eisia Williams, Jaylyne Hufford, and Nimia Hufford Children of Larry); Mayson Troy Couch, Stephanie Nicole Stanley, and Cameron Matthew Couch (children of Troy); and Caleb Anthony Rudd, Daymien Layne Flynn, Hayden Jayde Flynn, and Dominik Johnathan Flynn (children of Erica). She cherished each grandchild deeply and found immense joy in spending time with them.
A devoted grandmother with a creative spirit, Susan loved crocheting clothes not only for her grandchildren but also for their pets. Her hands were rarely still—whether tending to her garden or keeping her home spotless. She found comfort in simple pleasures like watching television and movies—especially true crime shows—and sharing those moments with loved ones.
Animals held a special place in Susan’s heart. Her compassion extended beyond people to the pets who were lucky enough to be part of her life. Whether it was through nurturing plants in her garden or caring for animals at home, Susan’s nurturing nature shone brightly.
Her smile could light up any room—a reflection of the warmth she carried within. Despite life’s hardships, she never let them define her. Instead, she rose above them with grace and grit that inspired those around her.
May Susan Lynn Couch’s memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. Her strength lives on in the hearts of those she touched.
