You are all in my prayers.  May you all find peace and cherish the memories of your sweet son.   I pray Steven is at peace.

Steven and I. Growing up, Steven was my neighbor and best friend. Even though we drifted apart, I can’t think of a more friendly, kind, and genuinely loving person. My heart goes out to Tina, John, Val, and everyone else that Steven’s life touched.
Steven will be missed deeply. He was such a kind and gentle soul. I have so many wonderful memories of us hanging out together, going on nature walks, checking out book stores, watching movies. He was my best friend for quite some time. I will cherish these memories. I’m sending all my love and positive energy to the  Cotton Family during this time.

Steve and I first met at a youth group I attended in 2009.  I first met him through Angela Marie Felker (Kappel), and we became fast friends.  Shortly after, I met his friend Miles Hegyi, and the 3 of us formed a strong bond.  Over time, I was unable to maintain contact with Steve due to his absence on social media, but I never forgot about him.  I last saw him 4 years ago just before the lockdowns for COVID-19 began.  We went to a brick oven pizza parlor on Bluemound Rd. in Brookfield WI, and that was the last time we met.  I wanted to meet with him more later on, but COVID and distance prevented that.  When he made a new Facebook profile recently within the last fiew months, I began to reach out to him and Miles so that we could connect.  I had planned to meet with him a few weekends ago, but because of his health symptoms we were unable to meet on that Sunday.  That was the last time I heard from him.  I'll miss him too, even though it has been a while since I last saw or talked with him.

Growing up with Steven as a neighbor was such a blessing. Steven was a kind-hearted, gentle person and I only have fond memories of him to look back upon. I remember him being so enthusiastic, fun, and interesting. He was one of the few people in the world who called me Katie and I always said that nobody was allowed to call me that except Steven and the Cottons.

I was so sad to hear the news and my heart hurts knowing that he was in pain. I hope he's in a better place now. We'll miss you buddy.

I am so very sorry to hear of the loss of Steven, my thoughts are with you all during this difficult time. Steven and I attended school together since kindergarten, up until high school graduation. He was always such a kind person with a great sense of humor, so it's no wonder we always got along well. Anytime we had a class together we would chit chat about music, or other interests we shared.  Again, I am so sorry for your loss.
So  sorry to hear of Steven's death.  My heart goes out to his mom and dad.  My advice is to lean on God, lean on family and friends, and keep busy.   These things helped me.
