Ben - you were an amazing man and wonderful clinical and academic nephrologist. It is a big loss for our renal community. Our thoughts and love go to your family at this difficult time. May your dear soul rest in peace, Stephen Marks

Ben was a truly lovely and inspiring man. It is so sad that he should die so young and when he was at the peak of his professional life. He was an international leader in renal tubular physiology but was so humble and generous with his time and advice. He had an infectious enthusiasm and an entertaining and engaging teaching style. He was a fantastic role model for junior (and senior) doctors. And very good banter in the pub. He will be hugely, hugely missed.

You will be missed. You’re one of the best Dortor I know.

I was really looking forward to working together and I am really sorry that we didn't get that opportunity. Together, we will ensure we create a legacy for rare tubular disorders.

Despite Ben and I met only a few times, his sense of humor, kindness and authentic passion for science made a clear impression on me. My condolences to his family and colleagues.

We only ever met in clinic but your kindness, honesty, good humour and compassion shown towards me was eternally appreciated. You were taken far too soon but your legacy through your research will live on and be built on by the rest of the team. Rest in Peace my friend and condolences to your loving family and friends.

Ben was truly a great person and scientist. I remember the first time I met him online to discuss how we can work together and his enthusiasm and spark for science was amazing. Then I got to know him in the past 4 years and I realized he was not only an amazing scientist, but also also an amazing person. Plus he was one of the few people in science that truly had a great taste in music.. Not only did we bond with science, but we also bonded on great music. I think his legacy will live on forever for all the great work he has done and I think he truly was an inspiration for many. He will be missed by many. My thoughts are with the Walsh family and there are a community of scientists which will ensure that Ben will live on forever and remembered for what a great person he was.

Ben was my scientific soulmate and the dearest of friends. While our time together was just short of 5 years, those years were an intense rollercoaster that led to us forming a friendship that felt like I'd known him my whole life. I trusted him implicitly with matters both personal and professional.
He was nothing short of brilliant, immensely funny, (wildly chaotic) and endlessly creative in the best possible ways. He made me a better person and a better scientist. We got to travel the world together, do crazy experiments and build an incredible collective of scientists, medics and engineers to help patients, research tomorrow's medicine and teach the next generations.
Words are insufficient to express the sorrow we all feel, but I hope there is some comfort in knowing his legacy will long live on, and that he has left an indelible mark on a myriad of people from all walks of life. My deepest of condolences to all of the Walsh and Shenoy families.
