I'll miss our eclectic conversations in the lift and on the street. Your inaugural Prof seminar was something else! You will be missed and not forgotten.
I would like to extend our warmest sympathies to the wife and son whom Dr.Walsh left behind sorry for your loss may the Lord Jesus Christ comfort you in this moment of grief with love
Ben, your enthusiasm and passion for life, science, medicine, and the kidney will be deeply missed but never forgotten. I am sending my love and condolences to all of Ben's friends, family, and patients.
You were special. I loved your larger than life personality on my ward rounds. One thing still in my memory bank after so many years was a case you presented on ward round who was known to have sero-negative lupus nephritis. You highlighted her urticaria as an initiating feature in all her three previous presentations. She had dermograhia. So I wrote on her arm C1q with my index finger which lit up as red line. I asked you to find a connection between what I wrote and patient diagnosis. By evening you had cracked it ! HUS (hypocomplementaemic urticarial syndrome) mimicking as lupus nephritis. Bravo. You were one of the brightest registrar I had pleasure to work with. I followed your career and was not surprised to see you reach the top of academic ladder. Buddy Rest in peace. We meet again in after life
We are so lucky to have crossed paths with Ben. He has left an amazing legacy and thoughts and love go out to his family, especially Chiara and little Silas.
Ben was such a kind and thoughtful gentleman. He was always humble and generous with his time and expertise. Ben will be thoroughly missed both personally and professionally. x
I met Ben more than 20 years ago, both young kidney aficionados. He had the ability to think outside the box and make new connections. And I learnt a lot from his gift to teach. My sincerest condolences to his family and friends
We have such fond memories of Ben from our brief stay in London. He and Chiara welcomed us like family and he shared his impeccable taste in films and music with my son Jack. I will remember his quick wit and the immense love he had for Spike x
My sincerest condolences. I knew Stephen for over 20 years. We worked together at the Middlesex Hospital when he was a registrar and continued working with him when we moved to royal free. He was one of the nicest person I knew and would be truly missed.
I will always treasure my brief but exhilarating scientific collaboration with Ben. I was such a privilege to bask in his light. Such a loss to so many, way too early.
Ben believed in me when I needed someone to believe in me and he gave me a chance when I was in need of one. I will always be grateful for that. Even now, I am revising an article that the conclusion was basically his. My thoughts are with his wife, child and loved ones.
I can’t believe this day has come. It is such a big loss that you are not here anymore Ben. You will be truly missed. May your kind spirit live on through Silas xx
