Steve's obituary

Stephen R. Neece

Stephen Ray Neece, age 67, of Paris, Texas, passed away on August 28, 2023.

Steve was born on January 21, 1956 in Dallas, Texas to Donald W. and Marjory Ruth Neece. He graduated in 1974 from Franklin High School in Franklin, Tennessee. He attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee.

He moved to Paris, Texas in 1981 and started farming and also did custom combining with his father. In 1983, he became a City of Paris firefighter – a job he worked at for 22 years, retiring as a Deputy Chief. He was also very instrumental on the school board at Chisum ISD, serving for 13 years. Many of those school board years he served as President of the Board. Steve was also active in the Texas Association of School Boards. After his retirement from the City of Paris, he continued to serve his community by helping generate local jobs.

Steve was practical, smart, and generous with those around him. He spent his time in the great outdoors and with his family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Neece, a brother, David Neece and sister, Vicky Anderson. He is survived by his children, Robyn (Austin) Hoxie, Alex (Mandy) Neece and Sam (Camille) Neece, former spouse, Dena Neece and father, Don Neece. He is also survived by the nine loves of his life – his grandchildren.
