Steve was my friend in the early 70s. A really great guy! He used to give my wife and I free concert tickets quite often. When he left WPLO fm he gave me a big box full of vinyl albums! I still have them today! I listened to him and Ed Shane all the time. They changed my music preferences  completely and I thank them for it. Can't believe he's gone.
Steve was my first husband and we remained friends throughout our lives. He had called me shortly before his death in 2020, but he didn’t seem to be sick. We had a normal conversation. I’m really sorry that he died when he did! I would’ve stayed in touch with him in 2020, if I’d known. I’m not sure he even realized that he’d be gone soon when he called me. He was just saying, “Hello!”! I, actually, just found out yesterday, after trying to contact him for a couple years. A friend told me that she saw his obituary by googling his name, so I did that, as well. I did love Steve. We just married too young. And, I never found a kinder man in all my 75 years! I turned 75 today! And, I’ll always think of Steve kindly. I, definitely, DO miss him!
I offer my sincere condolences to the Hosford family.

Steve played 1st chair Alto sax, three chairs up from me, on a French Selmer gold plated wonderful sounding Eflat horn. For his graduation Spring recital he played “Take Five” by Dave Brubeck, to great applause...ever try 5/4 time? Yes, he awed us.

Steve was also a great compassionate friend. We both attended Peachtree Christian Church. He was older, and had this 4 speed Morris Minor car that we would go on church visitations once a month. 4 speeds in the floor were something interesting.

The Hosford’s were a great family...think my oldest sister had a few dates with his older brother Mike.

Steve smiled a lot...he was missing one bone joint in his neck, so he couldn’t always turn his head real well as he smiled down the music section to me playing last chair.

For some reason tonight, March 24,2021, I just thought of Steve probably for the first time in maybe 57 years.

Rest In Peace, Steve, I’ll see you and the rest of your family in Paradise, at the appointed day.

Steve was my cousin, and he was a good one. A very special person. He will always be missed.

Steve will truly be missed. For all the years that I have known him, he was genuinely kind and treated people with great respect.
