Stephen's obituary

Stephen Christopher Hosford, age 75, beloved father and grandfather, died August 2, 2020. Born May 13, 1945 to James Columbus Hosford and Prentiss McIntyre Hosford , he was raised in Atlanta, Georgia and was an active member of Peachtree Christian Church for many years. He graduated from Northside High School where he played the saxophone in the marching band. Upon graduation, he attended The University of Virginia and later received his Master's Degree from Georgia State University.

Steve was a pioneering progressive FM rock and roll DJ in Atlanta in the 1970's, a job that shaped his life-long appreciation of music from that era. He left the radio station when they without warning switched to playing country music. Steve later became a tax preparer for H&R Block and also pursued his love of investing and the stock market, tracking the market’s movements with computer programs of his own devising. In his early retirement years he became a loving and devoted care giver for his mother who passed away in 2012.

Steve was predeceased by his parents, James C. Hosford and Prentiss M. Hosford, and his brother James Michael Hosford. He is survived by his son, Michael Christopher Hosford, daughter-in-law, Christina Wickert Hosford, and the light of his life, Grace Prentiss Hosford, his beloved granddaughter. Other survivors include sister-in-law Susan Smith Hosford, nieces Jennifer Hosford Johannesmeyer (Jack), Abigail Hosford Cutchshaw (Adrian), and Rebecca Hosford Roberts (Madison), great-nieces and nephews, Wiley Johannesmeyer, Jolie Cutchshaw, Sydney Cutchshaw Littrell (Nick), Fischer Cutchshaw, Mollie Cutchshaw, Nicholas Cutchshaw, Hosford Roberts, Pryor Roberts, Carolyn Roberts, and great-great nephew, Winston Littrell, along with many cousins and friends.

Steve will be remembered for his intellect, sincerity and thoughtfulness. He never forgot a birthday and was always such a generous and kind man who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A family memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date due to COVID 19.
