“Steve” was not only my “bonus mom” but she was someone who showed me love when she didn’t have any reason to. She opened her home to me, and brought me into the family. She welcomed me and helped me. She pushed me to chase my dreams and aspirations, like moving to Hawaii. Any idea I had, she was always the one I’d go to with it, because I knew she’d support me and help me. She always knew what to say to snap me back into reality, comfort me, or distract me. She brought out a confidence in me that I didn’t know I had. She helped me see more worth in myself and translated that to relationships. She demonstrated a godly love like no other. I have never met anyone like her and never will again. I’m honored to have been able to assist in laying her to rest. We always joked about it when I became a mortician, but I never imagined doing it this soon. But it was an honor and privilege and I will miss her endlessly.

Stephanie played a pivotal role in our adoption story and I attribute her and the work of ANB to making me into the adoptive mom I am. Stephanie and I spent years together in the mom group. She was the first phone call I made after my spouse when we received the news we had been matched and were headed to pick up our baby. 

She also scarified a night of sleep when the newborn phase hit hard and this new mom needed a night of sleep. 

We challenged each other, grew each other, and loved each other. Things weren’t always easy but Steph played a huge role in shaping my family today and I am forever grateful
