Skylar's obituary

                   Skylar Rose Viernum

Born 10/24/13 - 06/08/23

Skylar lived in our home for 11 years as a beautiful, happy, spoiled dog. Skylar passed away on June 8, 2023 at 3:15 PM in her home with me by her side.

It was a cold, rainy day in Pekin, IL in October of 2013 when I went to bring Skylar to her forever home. I rescued Skylar so I could train her to be a support dog for my daughter and I because we both had severe anxiety issues at the time. My daughter was learning how to overcome the challenges of Autism, which was still very new to us.

Skylar survived in my home with Michaela Viernum, Skylar's human sister, and myself. She was always there to make us smile, laugh, cry and she loved to give kisses Skylar loved all of her toys and treats; to travel whenever we would go on long trips, and going on long walks at night with me around the block. Skylar loved everyone she met in her 11 years of life. She loved her gravy and mashed potatoes as well as her hot dogs with a little mac n cheese. She didn't like bath time, and would always hide when it would rain or storm.

You are my shadow now, even though you may have had four legs and a tail. You are, and always will be, my special fur-baby. We miss and love you so much-it's not the same at home without you here; but we know you are in a better place and you are having all the fun you want, being cancer free. It's never good-bye, but rather, see you later.
