On September 17, 2017 great grandma and great grandpa took us to their first house in National City, California. They lived in this house in 1965. I’m grateful for Mrs. Medina who kindly opened up her doors and spoke with my great grandparents. 😊

2021, My Heart ♥️
Grandpa, the handkerchief is because I always see you with one to blow your nose, wipe the sweat off your forehead, and crumbs off your mouth from donuts 😆 The color red was your favorite color. The rose was the beautiful plants you grew with your green thumb lined up along the entrance of your doorway. The succulents is because you had them hanging everywhere along with your beautiful plants. Your penmanship was because you kept records of everything and is apart of you. I was honored to have you as a grandpa and grateful for all your advice and stories you have shared with me. I know your dancing up in the sky because you showed me in a dream after we laid you to rest. It was a beautiful tribute and I know your presence was there. The tears we shed on our handkerchief I made will remain cause I will not wash it 😢 just like the memories, it will be kept for eternity. We love you always and forever. 🌹Thank you GPA for everything ❤️
Tin-Tin:

I was asked to retell my favorite story of Grandpa. What I will remember most is how Grandpa showed us love through his garden. I remember Grandpa planting me a guava tree when I was a kid in Las Vegas just because I told him I loved guava. I watered it everyday, but let’s face it, they don’t thrive in the desert. I grew up thinking that everyone ate cilantro dipped in soy sauce from an old Marie Callendar’s pie tin. Every time we’d visit, we’d leave with paper bags full of cilantro grown and harvested with love from his backyard garden. It wasn’t just cilantro. It was pumelo, orange, mustard leaves, peppers, onion, eggplant, and so many more. My favorite thing Grandpa did was when I gifted him a plant one year for his birthday, the next time I came over, he had reproduced it into 3 plants! To this day, if you look up my Grandpa’s Moreno Valley address on google maps, the satellite image that shows up is him selling all of his plants out in front of the house with beautiful pink aster flowers lining the walkway. I’ll think of him every time I garden, and I’ll smile every time I see a plant that he has given me, because I know being out in his garden brought him lots of joy. I know in his Eternal life, he is in a garden, he is dancing, and he is giving speeches to his hearts content.

2013, Grandpa’s Garden
Gardening is Grandpa’s favorite pastime. He grew mustard, cilantro, onion, tomatoes, peppers, pomelo, orange, and many others. He was a very skilled farmer, and loved to sell at the Long Beach swap meet, or give his prized plants to family, friends, and neighbors.
