Simone was the sister i never had. I remember when i was younger I used to ask my mom for a sister as if she could control the gender but i was too young to understand that at the time. As I got older I realized God had given me the opportunity to choose my sisters through friends that aligned with my values and passions. Simone is someone who truly was the only person I considered a true big sister to me. Her countless calls to me encouraging me to stay on the straight and narrow path inspired me to think beyond my years. She helped guide me in the right direction when it came to friends, relationships, passions and so much more. I feel as though we were each someone we could lean on when we were both going through tough times and I feel as though we could also celebrate our wins with each other without jealousy. She was a pure soul that I hadn’t encountered in many friends and was someone that I knew I could always count on. Her positivity about life despite everything she was going through with her heart and later her liver was truly inspiring. Even when diagnosed with cancer I remember her telling me she was not afraid and she knew God had a plan for her life. Many of the times we hung out it was in nature or sitting outside swinging. I feel as though she always had a perceptiveness for being present and in the moment that often eludes so many of us in our busy lives. I don’t know if it was because of her disabilities that she seemed to appreciate life to the fullest despite everything! This quality about her made every time we hung out feel like a core memory because we weren’t on our phones or gossiping. She helped me see how beautiful life was and how precious every moment was even if we went out and didn’t talk but just sat together in the park. She will truly be missed but she will NEVER be forgotten! Pieces of Simone live on on in all the people she has inspired. I love you Simone and I will miss you!

My heart hurt when I heard about Simone's passing. I only knew her through her mother who was my classmate at Pine Forge Academy, but my interactions with Simone revealed what a beautiful person she was. There was a special light that emanated from her and a musical tone in her voice that left an indelible impression. She was absolutely a gift to the world and she will not be forgotten. So looking forward to seeing her made new in the earth made new. Until then sweet child of God.
