Siddika's obituary
Siddika Shevket was a beloved wife (of 72 years), mother, and Nene to three granddaughters. She was born in Lefkara, Cyprus, and worked as a talented seamstress, marrying Ismail and later adopting Keziban.
Due to the unfortunate circumstances of war, Siddika and her family were forced to leave Lefkara in 1963. They were eventually welcomed to America and landed in New York first before settling in South Florida. Siddika and Ismail’s immigration to the US in their 30s with their young daughter and later success is a testament to their strength and ingenuity.
Siddika and Ismail resided in South Florida for many decades before recently joining Keziban in Sedona, where Siddika spent her last years enjoying views of pink mountains and occasional visits from wild pigs and flocks of quail.
Anyone who knows Siddika will remember her wicked sense of humor. Her dolmas, golifa, pilauna, and home-made bread were legendary. We will miss having her in our lives and are deeply saddened by her passing.
Please join us in honoring her life.
