I would generally speak with Sittiga Hala every couple of weeks or so.  In a recent phone call, Hala mentioned she had a dream of my dad (her second eldest brother Osman) who was a bit crossed and wanted her to pass on a message - he said - Tell them to take care of the roses.  Hala was curious to know if there were any roses at my mum and dad's house in London.  No I said maybe one or two - but I have roses, about 25 different bushes in the back and front garden.  Hala became emotional, as she felt the dream must have really been with my dad.  I sent her many photos of my roses to prove I was "taking care of the roses", and the photo I've enclosed here was the one she said she liked the most for the beautiful colour.  She was a sentimental person who also enjoyed talking about her youth and the family when they lived in Lefkara.  She had recently become quite enthralled talking about DNA relatives. I was so very sorry to hear she is no longer with us. Love always from your niece Ayten xx

A gentle soul so sweet and thoughtful . Will always remember her big smile when greeting us at the door with a “Come in Come in sit down ! I admired her hand knitted sweaters and I have a lap blanket she sewed . Jeff and I had our first cup of Turkish coffee with her and Ishmael. She put lots of sugar in it! Just the way we liked it ! She showed me how to make it.
We enjoyed our times together with her and Ishmael : Conversation flowed in so many directions and laughter was always a part of it. With Covid our visits understandably waned but Siddika would call us. We cherish our memories of times together and miss her.
