Shirley Ann Gingell, age 79 of Metamora, passed away on April 24, 2021, in the comforts of her home and with her family by her side. She was born on March 3, 1942, in Pontiac, MI to Abraham and Ethel Smith. Shirley enjoyed helping others and volunteering her efforts at Lapeer Regional Hospital for many years. She loved tending to her gardens, spending time in nature observing wildlife, and the simple joy of spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by her two children Tammy (Thomas) Halsey of Clarkston, MI and Frederick (Alba) Gingell of Metamora; grandchildren Katrina (Zach) Hill, Erica (Fiancé, John Sabo) Halsey, and Frederick (Sarah) Gingell II; great-grandchildren Elliott Gingell, Harlan Hill, and Vail Gingell; brother Marvil (Irene) Smith of Idaho; sister Marilyn Carlson of Oxford, MI; sister-in-law Joan Smith of Florida; special friend Denise Schons of Clarkston, MI; also several nieces and nephews.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Fred Gingell in 2012; brother Wendell Smith; parents Abraham and Ethel Smith.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 28th at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church (1310 N. Main St. Lapeer, MI 48446). Reverend Grant Lobb will officiate. Masks are required and social distancing will be in place with a 100 people maximum church capacity. Friends may visit with Shirley's family at the church prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Shirley will be laid to rest at Dawn Memorial Cemetery in Elba Twp., MI.

Memorial donations to Trinity United Methodist Church are appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer.
