Shaun's obituary
Shaun Patrick McCarthy was a remarkable and extraordinary person who touched the lives of everyone he met and left an indelible impression on our hearts. He will be forever loved and will never be forgotten.
Shaun was born in Casper, Wyoming on July 27th, 1961 to Finn and Betty (Lollman) McCarthy. After graduating from Kelly Walsh High School in 1979, Shaun attended ASU in Tempe, Arizona and received a degree in finance in 1984 from CU Boulder’s business school. Shaun was an accomplished business man with an extensive background in commercial banking serving many financial institutions through the years. Shaun began his career as a teller at First Community Bank in Boulder eventually working his way up to Executive Vice President. Spending over 17 years in Boulder, Shaun established lasting lifelong friendships which sustained him throughout his life and extended with his move to Colorado Springs in 1998. Living and working in the Springs for over 25 years, he enjoyed many roles from serving as Group President of Great Western Bank, Manager of Optimal Blue Secondary Services, working with Bank of Oklahoma and ultimately as President and Partner of A&S Investments and Owner of Handyman Connection.
Shaun is survived by his wife of 32 years, Anne Ellis Kuhns, and his three sons, Will, Samuel and Alex; his parents, Finn and Betty McCarthy; his six siblings, Kathy Gilboy (Tim), Eileen Hill (Stuart), Theresa Winnop (Terry), Mary Anne McCarthy, Debbie Catellier (Todd), and Dan McCarthy.
Shaun was a devoted and loving friend, son, uncle, father and husband... He put his heart and soul into everything he did, particularly when it came to providing for his family and raising his three sons. After the birth of his third boy, Shaun was so excited to have completed his golf foursome and enjoyed many special days playing the coveted sport with his favorite people! One memorable highlight when celebrating Father’s Day last June, was achieving his first and only hole in one with his sons at the Broadmoor!
Shaun truly found joy in all the little things and the beauty and simplicity of life. His easy-going nature, fun and irreverent sense of humor, endless compassion and empathy for others, and his endearing infectious smile will be greatly missed.
