Scott's obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Scott Allen Bricker, affectionately known to many as Toad, Scoot, Scotty, and Mighty Rat. He entered into eternal rest on May 24, 2023. Born on October 27, 1959, Scott was a loving father, son, brother, and grandfather who touched the lives of many throughout his 63 years.

Scott is survived by his daughters, Lindsay Thompson and Kailey Ference;  sons-in-law, Stewart Thompson and Nathan Ference; step-son, Bradley McClanahan; mother, Sharron Bricker; siblings, Kent Bricker, Machelle Heun, and Paul Bricker; niece, Skiy Berglund; grandchildren, Audrey Thompson, Maverick Thompson, Ruby Ference, June Ference, and Baby Ference. He was predeceased by his father, Neil Bricker; and uncles, Kenneth Bricker, Brian Bricker, and Gary Bricker. He is also survived by his uncle, Maynard Bricker and brother-in-law, Charlie Heun.

Scott married in 1987 and welcomed his children into the world on July 9, 1989, and November 2, 1992. He graduated from Kenston High School in 1978 and began a job at Custom Materials Inc that same year, from which he retired in 2018.

Throughout his life, Scott was a great home chef, creating memorable dishes for his family such as chicken paprikash, tuna noodle casserole, "Toad Surprise", goulash, and hamburger pie. He enjoyed root beer, cream soda, sun tea, and malted milkshakes from Dairy Island.

An antique connoisseur and avid gardener, Scott had a passion for collecting art, fruit jars, cure bottles, and marbles, as well as growing test roses for Jackson's Perkins and various vegetables, annuals, and perennials.

Scott cherished his daughters and deeply loved his stepson. They brought his life great joy.

Scott adored spending time in nature, taking naps in the sun, and keeping tabs on the weather. He cherished playtime with his grandchildren and treating them to ice cream. His favorite vacation spots included Sunset Beach, Acadia National Park, and Higgins Lake, Michigan. Scott had a unique sense of humor and loved to make others laugh. His kindness was felt by everyone he met.  Well known in the collector community, Scott was knowledgeable in all things antique. Scott loved nature and would enjoy walks in the woods especially with his daughters and later with grandchildren.

Scott's presence will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to The Lantern Recovery Center.
