Hi, I worked with Sarah years ago at CHOA, and we had tried to get together yearly for a lunch. I sent her a text last night, and when it was undelivered, I had a bad feeling. She was such a great friend to me over the years. I hate that I didn't know her health had worsened. My prayers for you all.

I will pass this sad news to my mother Frances Stevenson, she loved Sarah and the whole Bailey family. She worked closely with Dr. Bailey at the vet school and then Samford Hall. We last saw Sarah at the dedication of the Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital and it was a wonderful to see my mother and Sarah delight in their reunion.

Like Mary, I picked up on ‘Oh, for the love...’ and also learned a lot about southern recipes and food as vitamins!

Hannah, Della, and Hunter - I could literally write a book on all the wonderful memories of Sarah, your family, and the time spent on Westfield Row. While I considered Sarah one of my nearest and dearest friends, we were separated by 100’s of miles and many years. Just recently we reconnected and within minutes we were belly laughing and talking as if no time had passed. Sarah had a way of making you feel at home and special; she was the epitome of Southern Charm. She could give the best-trained Chef’s a run for their money and had a way of turning an ordinary dish into extraordinary. Her greatest love and pride and joy were her children. She told me in our last conversation how proud she was of all 3 of you and how she didn’t know how she got such great kids (with a chuckle).
I like to picture Sarah by the side of Lake Woebegon, painting, surrounded by her beloved pets that went before her. Love you dear friend. RIP
“That's the news from Lake Woebegon, where all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average.”

Sarah was such an amazing friend and neighbor. Always looking out for all the neighbors, always willing to do a favor when needed and very giving and kind. I will miss her terribly. Prayers for her and her family during this difficult time.

I will forever miss my dear friend, Sarah. We met several years ago and I always loved her quick wit...we shared many laughs together. Since retirement, we have actually seen each other more often. We would walk and talk almost daily and spend time with a small group of ladies going various places, doing various things. We could talk for hours about family, good food and books. We also talked of trips taken and trips we dreamed of taking. Just recently she had mentioned how glad she was that you all had the pleasure of going to Maine and then on to the farm for the annual celebration. She was thrilled to spend time with her family! She was so talented and could do anything she set her mind to...I have always been in awe of her cooking ability! She will be missed by all who knew her. Hunter, Della and Hannah, my prayers are with each of you and the rest of her family.

Whenever Mary Slider and I planned a surprise at church, Sarah wanted in! Her sense of humor was always welcome and her height appreciated, especially when we needed to retrieve escaping balloon as we did on this day when we honored our graduates with a 21 Balloon Salute! She also rang the bigger bells in my bellchoir so she was a true presence and will be sorely missed.

My life will not be the same without my dear friend Sarah. While I watched her go through several significant health trials over the past 15 years she was always thinking of me and others. She is one the most selfless people I know and this is exemplified by her flower arranging , community garden , and many talents and gifts . We shared our love for the outdoors , animals ( especially cats) , flowers , good food and most of ability to make each other laugh and never take life
Too seriously . I will
Miss our regular chats and texts . Sarah has been a mentor to me over the years parenting my two daughters. My heart breaks for Della , Hunter ,Hannah and the rest of Sarah family who will miss her contagious smile and loving spirit . I will see you again in Gods glory one day sweet friend ❤️

Sarah was such a sweet precious soul. She was so strong and always an encourager to those around her. She will be greatly missed. I was blessed to know her. May God bless her family and keep her memory alive in them all.
