Sarah's obituary
Sarah was a devoted mother. Like her mother, Kate, she had the ability to create a soulful meal without a recipe. She supported her children with sports, academics, music, and art. Sarah instilled in her children independence and a positive work ethic.
Sarah loved to garden. She would often use okra, tomatoes, and herbs from her home garden in her meals. Her love of gardening and tending the earth led her to institute a garden project at her work supplying fresh vegetables for employees. Further serving her community, Sarah also designed and tended a vegetable garden at Christ Episcopal Church in Kennesaw making vegetables available to families in need.
She also took great joy in artistic endeavors as evidenced by her stunning flower arrangements for church events, knitted caps and blankets for newborns and prayer shawls to comfort those in times of stress. She volunteered at the community art center, teaching children to draw and paint. Her expertise with watercolor was striking but rarely shared in public view.
Sarah was strong, waging three battles with cancer, while often still sporting a smile to friends and family. Her personality, compassion and sharp wit touched everyone she knew, and she will be sorely missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Wilford Bailey, and brother, Joe Sherrill Bailey. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her brother Ed Bailey (sp. Cheryl) of Rye, New York, sister Margaret (sp. Will) of Palmyra, Virginia, as well as her three children: Hunter Clark of Washington D.C., Della Garner (sp. Micah) of Birmingham, AL, and Hannah Clark of Atlanta, GA. She was also a cat mom to her two beloved cats, Cephies and Dodger. Her life is also celebrated by her large family including numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Northside Hospital as well as the staff and caretakers of Sacred Journey Hospice in McDonough, GA for the compassionate care offered to Sarah and her family in her final days. Although no service is scheduled at this time, Sarah's family will honor her memory and celebrate her life when circumstances allow a safe gathering.
