Sara's obituary

Mrs. Sara Lynn Sapp, age 91, of Lyons, died Sunday, January 22, 2023, at Community Hospice House in Vidalia after an extended illness. She was born in Collins on March 29, 1931 to the late Walter Lynn and Marie Boyette Lynn. She moved to Toombs County in 1940 and lived in Lyons most of her life. Earlier in her life, she worked at Peoples Bank in Lyons for several years, and retired from Toombs County EMA, working with the late Ronald E. Widener. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lyons, where she taught Sunday school, and she enjoyed reading. Preceding her in death was her husband, Floyd Sapp; and two brothers, Gordon Lynn and Bill Lynn.

Her family includes two children, Linda Sapp Toole and husband Gene, and Lee Sapp and wife Marcella, all of Lyons; one sister, Rose Lynn McAlum and husband Dudley of Savannah; two granddaughters, Bridget Simmons of Liberty County, and Brittany Simmons of Lyons; two great-grandchildren, Abigail Hutto and Logan Page; several nieces and nephews; and caregivers, Paula Montgomery and Michelle Ferrier.

The funeral service will be Thursday, January 26th, at 12:00 noon at First Baptist Church of Lyons with Pastor Dannie Williams and Reverend Randy Callahan officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday morning from 10:30 until just prior to the service.

The family would like to acknowledge the nursing staff of Community Hospice for the loving care that was shown to our mother.
