I did not know Sandy well, though the eulogies at the service sure led me to wish I had known her better. Hal will no doubt carry on her caring spirit and loving concern for all.

Our Condolences to the Metzger family.  We will keep you all in our thoughts.

Patrick & Christy Sullivan

As always, praying for you, Hal, and your family.  I know Sandy is in a better place and is smiling down on her celebration of life.  Be happy that she is at peace and is in the arms of Jesus.  Love to you all,

Jan and Larry

Jessie, Steve, and Hal, My deepest sympathies to you on the loss of your beloved Sandra. She was such a kind soul the times I met her. Prayers and condolences to you during this season. Christ is with you and knows each detail. Blessing, Kevin & Karen

Sandy was the Matriarch of a wonderful family. I wish I had gotten to know her and Hal's seven "kids" and grandchildren, but will see many of them at the Memorial Service on Saturday 3/15.
My heart breaks for the entire Metzger family.  The powerful love and support of Sandy's family was admirable and a true testimony of God's love for us.  Throughout this painful journey, Sandy's faith displayed incredible courage, bravery, and hope!  She offered genuine kindness, love, and empathy to everyone she met.  She was a beautiful wife, mother, sibling,....and mermaid!  We will never forget her passion for loving her family, life, faith, and the water!  Peace and blessings.  love, Lucy
Throughout high school, I regularly hung out at the Metzgers house with Paul and friends. The Metzgers always welcomed us and Mrs. Metzger was eternally kind and gracious even though I imagine it was probably less than convenient to have so many high schoolers invading your house. We'd even commandeer that newly remodeled room above the garage at times so we could hang out and watch movies, but the Mr. and Mrs. Metzger never gave us grief about it. When I think of Mrs. Metzger, I can't picture her without a smile on her face.  I'm so sorry for your loss and send my best.

I am so sorry for your loss Hal.  Since the day we moved in (10 years ago) you and Sandy have been kind and loving neighbors.  We always enjoyed our chats and Sandy was always eager to hear about our boys.  We will miss her deeply.  Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help out in the coming days.

Dan & Brigette

I knew Sandy in high school as Sandy Gottschall! We were is the church youth group and church high school choir together in the mid 70’s. She was a few years older and was so sweet back then to everyone! I was always in awe of her and her twin Jessie and sister Joyce and felt so special when she would take notice of me and treat me like a peer. How beautiful that her faith in Jesus remained so strong her whole life! I’m so sorry that she of all people had to suffer! I’ll always remember her gentle and beautiful spirit. My thoughts go out to her husband, children and grandchildren!

We send our heartfelt condolences to Hal and all who loved Sandy. She was such a vibrant and positive presence in our neighborhood. We always enjoyed our driveway chats and Caroline and Charlie loved showing “Neighbor Nonnie” all of their scooter tricks. She had so much love for her family, and we loved hearing stories about her children and grandchildren. Her strength and determination in her fierce battle with cancer were such an inspiration. We will miss her dearly and cherish the smiles and love she brought to our family. We are holding you in our thoughts and prayers. With sympathy, Will, Candice, Caroline, and Charlie Hux

I and my family blessed Sandy. When she was in China, we had lots of good memories, I will keep that in my memory forever.
I am blessed to have met Sandy even if it was for a short period. I’m going to miss her beautiful stories. Goodbye my friend. You rest in peace. ✝️💖
I was a French Teacher at Sandburg JrHigh and taught several of Sandy’s kids in the early 1990’s.  I taught homeschool French to several of her younger kids in the late 1990’s/early 2000.  However, 20 years later we had lost contact. I had moved several times, yet somehow she tracked me down and invited me to Marcy’s (or maybe Missy’s?) baby shower in the spring of 2020.  We were in the midst of Covid so the shower was in the front yard. How thoughtful of Sandy to think of me, find me and invite me in to her family’s celebration!  We decided we would meet for coffee, maybe go for walks together to create a friendship.  Weeks later, she called with her news of pancreatic cancer.  We both felt God had brought us together for such a time as this for prayer.  I had the privilege of praying for and sometimes with Sandy over the next three plus years.  I watched God answer prayer after prayer as we petitioned His throne.  And Hal kept the updates coming. Hal is such an example of a Godly husband, believing in prayer and going to bat for his wife with perseverance, love and devotion.  I am thankful Sandy reached out to reconnect with me and allow me to be part of her journey to heaven.  Maybe we can meet regularly for coffee one day in heaven.

Sandy was such a beautiful sister in Christ! She continually was compassionate, caring, and shared the love of Jesus in the midst of everything she was going through. Such an inspiration!

We will be out of state for the memorial. Our thoughts and prayers are with Hal and the whole family.

I will miss seeing Sandy's beautiful smile, I said good morning sunshine every Sunday to her and she truly was. Sandy was so inspiring to me, you could see her love for God and it was amazing! She is amazing and i'm going to miss that energy and smile that she had! She's finally home now and life is perfect for her with the lord!

Sandy was my beloved sister who was very dedicated to serving the Lord. We had many good talks about our love for Jesus and how much Jesus loves us. Soon we will all see him face to face and be with our loved ones. I thank God for his promises.
