Samuel's obituary

Samuel Berman fled Russia with his family to come to America during the Russian Revolution. He brought his wife Sarah and son Morris. Bernard was born in Scranton. His daughter Leah passed away at a very young age from consumption.

Samuel was very industrious. He bought a home on 402 Depot Street in the Providence section of Scranton. There was a garage in the back that he would convert into a barn from May to October. He would go up to Wyoming county and get a horse to hook up to his wagon.

Samuel was a Huckster. He was the man who filled his cart with fresh fruit and vegetables and went from home to home selling produce. He was very popular and, when not working, he would give rides to the neighborhood children.

Samuel was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sarah and son Bernard. He was survived by his son Morris Berman (wife Mildred Cholevitz Berman) and grandson Charles Bernard Berman (wife Bonita L. Timins).

He passed away in 1962 and is buried in the Providence/ Linden Street section of the Dalton Jewish Cemetery, Dalton, PA. Funeral arrangements and graveside service provided by Ziman's Funeral Home Inc., 612 Gibson Street, Scranton, PA.
