Once in a long while you meet a humble person who really stands out in a room. Sam was one of those special people. I met Sam through aviation, as a member of the Air Force Association, Chapter 195 Shooting Star. He was always ready to be supportive of anything related to the Air Force, really anything related to flying. Sam’s many interests kept him going, but under it all, he loved and cared for people and animals. My sincere  thoughts/condolences to Maureen and the family. He lived a full life and was blest enough to marry his best friend, too. God be with you! He lives on through all the lives he touched in a special way.
Sam always had a light in his eye. He was smart, sparky, and self-sufficient and respected the same qualities in others. He was never dull, always thinking, and had a strong sense of justice paired with a leavening dose of old-fashioned mischief. I have appreciated his strong spirit from my teenage years to my present middle aged days. I am grateful for his presence in my life and always will be.
Sam was my swimming buddy when we were both in our eighties. His caring, cheerful manner and enthusiasm for swimming were instrumental in keeping me faithful to my swimming routine. I can still hear his encouragement and swimming tips when I’m in the pool. The pool at LA Fitness is yet another place that he is sorely missed.

Wolf and I will never forgot the visit with our Dad to tour the B-17.  He was especially thrilled to see his old plane and the rest of  my sisters and brothers loved it, too.  Sam was wonderful to  arrange such a fantastic day for all of us.  We have many photos that remind us of the day.  What a thoughtful guy!
