Sam's obituary
Sam Feldman was always a bit of a daring rascal. He was born in 1941 in Pittsburgh and had a series of youthful escapades, from skydiving in his early twenties, attending the 1969 Woodstock Festival to years later, building an overpowered model rocket with his daughter, Leah, which produced a spectacular explosion.
Sam earned his Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from NYU and was a telecommunications engineer and a corporate project manager with Hewlett Packard. He loved to build model airplanes and trains. He was a member of the United Railroad Historical Society of New Jersey and helped restore locomotives and railcars. He rode his vintage Kawasaki motorcycle for decades. He was a member of Bellcore’s 150th Aero Flying Club, and for many years flew a Cessna. Later he served as a First Lieutenant in the Civil Air Patrol, working with and encouraging adults, both young and old, to learn the basics of flying.
Sam published many scientific articles, held patents and later in life became a high school science teacher. Sam was a swimmer, scuba driver and got to swim with mantra rays. He was a devoted husband, a caring father and grandfather and the kind of friend who was always ready for an adventure. He will be missed terribly. Sam is survived by his wife, Maureen Feldman, his daughter, Leah Heinrich, his grandchildren, Celine and Ben and his sister, Freda Rosenberg.
