Sable's obituary
Sable Janine Elston, 35 of Ellettsville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 23rd, 2025, at the IU Health Bloomington Hospital leaving behind a legacy of joy, love, and light that will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
Born on Thursday, April 19th, 1990, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Sable lived her life with a heart full of love and kindness. Though she faced challenges with her disabilities, she never let them define her spirit. Her passion for music, especially playing her beloved keyboard, was a source of happiness for her and those blessed to listen.
She had lived the majority of her life in Martinsville, Indiana, where she attended high school and graduated with the class of 2010. In 2018, Sable and her family moved to Monroe County to be closer to her siblings and nieces and nephews, whom she adored.
Sable’s radiant smile could brighten even the darkest of rooms. She carried with her an unmatched joy for life- always happy, always loving, never harboring bitterness or hate. She was affectionately known for her playful, silly nature, and for the way she made everyone around her feel special and loved.
Her kindness lives on in the most profound way, as she was an organ donor - her final act of selflessness and love.
Survivors who will carry her loving memory in their hearts include her mother, Cindy Elston of Ellettsville, IN; stepmother, Millie Elston of Ellettsville, IN; sisters, Sabrena King of Florida, Kara Elston of Kokomo, IN, Melinda (husband, Venice) Pettijohn and Amanda Carpenter both of Bloomington, IN, and Janelle Carpenter of Ellettsville, IN; brothers, Steven Elston II of Indianapolis, IN, and Jack (wife, Ashley) Elston of Franklin, IN; and many dear nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Sable’s life will be held on Thursday, September 4th, 2025, beginning at 7:00 PM at Neal & Summers Funeral Home in Martinsville, where family and friends will gather to honor her beautiful spirit. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service.
Though her time with us was too short, Sable’s joy, laughter, and love will continue to echo in the hearts of all who knew her.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the family to assist with final expenses.
