To the entire family, and especially Sarah, I am so deeply sorry for your loss. My fondest memories of watching any family’s children were when I was babysitting for you and Ryan for Gregory and William. I remember Ryan being such a kind, caring father who Gregory absolutely adored. We played many fun toy games and he always brought in characters to represent his strong dad, I can’t imagine how much he will be missed. I pray for you and for Ryan and will always be here for your family, God Bless you all

Ryan is dearly missed. His legacy is a testament to his character - kind, generous, and delightfully humorous. His professional mentorship has been immensely appreciated and shaped the way I think about work in the context of life rather than the other way around. All my love to the Martins.

Dear Sarah, and children Gregory, William and Abigail. We are devasted at the loss of your most amazing husband and dad. We would see Ryan when your parents lived next door and he always was there with a wave, a smile and great conversation. We are praying for his soul and for your days ahead as you bear with the grief and loss. He will be forever in your hearts

My heart is broken and my thoughts are with you and your family. Ryan and I went through the Navy ROTC program together at RPI (different year groups), both served on submarines, and both taught at submarine school - I am proud to have served with him and I have nothing but good memories.

To All the Martin Family: Since learning of Ryan’s untimely passing, I have fondly remembered many of the times of his life that the Woodard’s were a part of. Halloween trick or treating, Christmas Eve’s at Uncle Don’s house, Ryan’s babysitting of Morgan, School graduations, and Ryan & Sarah’s wedding were all special. While his life ended much too soon, he lived it well and fully. He was a good boy, brother, son, father, and man. While I have no words that can ease the pain and grief that surrounds us all, I can say that he will be sorely missed by many and that with time, only the good times will be remembered and will bring smiles to our faces. Until then, you all will remain in our hearts and in our thoughts and prayers.

Sarah, Gregory, William and Abigal, Praying for peace, comfort and healing, for you, and for Ryan’s entire family. Your loss is immeasurable.
I would choose Ryan Martin one hundred times to protect my kids, because that is the sense of safety and security you felt in his presence.
We met twelve years ago. My husband built the Martin’s home, which sat beside ours. We joked, “we get to choose our neighbors”. And we excitedly chose Sarah and Ryan Martin, and one year old Gregory.
Immediately a close neighbor friendship was formed. It only grew over the years. Our kids were close and we all loved and respected Ryan. But our son idolized him. Even so, this was going to be the year Thaddeus would finally be strong enough to throw Ryan in the pool.
We enjoyed countless dinners, ski trips, poolside parties, boating and sledding. Ryan seriously joked that he wanted to build a rope tow on our hill. Lol
During all the adventures, and with all the kids and chaos, he remained calm and logical, always. He was a rock. Unflappable. As a bonus, he could pack a car like no one’s business.
We loved his sense of humor and enjoyed every single riddle he told. We will cherish our memories. Rest in peace our very dear friend. And don’t worry, one day Raymond will achieve clear ice cubes.

On behalf of our Board of Directors, Staff and Membership, I offer our condolences to the family of Submarine Veteran Ryan Martin. We salute and thank Ryan for his years of service to his country in our nation’s submarine force, especially aboard the USS JIMMY CARTER. A copy of his obituary will be placed in the file of deceased submariners at our museum and in the USS JIMMY CARTER File. Rest your oars good and faithful servant, we now have the watch. You now have the eternal fair winds and following seas you so rightly earned during your time here on earth. God Bless you for your service and may his love and grace comfort your bride Sarah, your children Gregory, William and Abigail, and all of your family and friends left behind.

Through the window through which I knew him, as a work colleague, Ryan was the person we all aspire to be: A bright and positive presence who cared about and invested in his coworkers. He truly was a remarkable person and I am very glad I knew him. It’s a small thing, but in one his final days on this planet he took time out his busy schedule to do a favor for me, which was entirely in keeping with his approach throughout the several years I worked with him.
I appreciated that he could perform at such a high level and yet show by example how family was his top priority. To his family I extend my sympathies, for I know the sense of loss is overwhelming.
