Ruth Timmsen, age 92, formerly of Wilton, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, in Stockton, Iowa.

Ruth Audrey Phelps was born in Atalissa, Iowa, on March 21, 1933, to Glen and Laura (Weikert) Phelps. She married James “Jim” Timmsen and together they made their home in Wilton. Ruth worked for many years as a bank manager before retiring and opening a cleaning business. She also made and sold fleece blankets alongside Jim at area farmer’s markets.

Ruth had a heart for the less fortunate and never met a stranger. She was known for picking up hitchhikers and inviting them in for a meal, often featuring her famous baked beans and chocolate pie. Ruth also loved to garden and always had shelves of her homemade pickles to share.

Ruth is survived by her children, Timothy (Dee) Timmsen of Stockton, Penny (Daryl) Stimmel of Sunrise Beach, Missouri; grandchildren, Doris Timmsen, Hunter (Anna) Timmsen, Jordan (Andrew) Pencil, Laura (Christopher) Boley, Kate (Aaron) Simester-Aguilar and Whitney Casas; fourteen great-grandchildren and two sisters.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Per her request, there will be no funeral or memorial service and Ruth will be laid to rest with Jim.
