I still think A Colonial Nutcracker is one of the best productions of Nutcracker I have ever been a part of or even saw performed
I am posting a lot of photos because I don't know what to say. I lived at Rose's studio from age 9-18. Rose taught so much more than ballet in that huge studio. She was a force to be reckoned with; with passion, artistry, creativity,  patience (yes, I said patience),  heart, and a strong work ethic to make her dreams and ours come true.

Dear Sonia,

My deepest condolences to you and your family. You are in my thoughts. Nicole

My heartfelt condolences to Sonia and Bernie, and all the other wonderful teachers who worked so closely with Rose to make a dance studio that is a world in itself.  Allison, Jodi and I spent all spent our formative years in Yorktown.  We spent countless weekends in rehearsal for Nutcracker and other performances as well.   Dress rehearsals for every performance will always be in my mind.   Amazing memories of getting to the bus at 6:30 in the morning to go to Brooklyn to do the Nutcracker.  Rose's home was our home, and she cared about every dancer.  How lucky I was to be able to perform with both of my children on the stage (Nutcracker, Toy Shop), have the opportunity to teach, and be a part of all that the Dance Center offered.    We were all influenced by Rose and her commitment to her art and to her students.  She will be missed, but she left a legacy.

Dear Sonia and  Bernie,

My  thoughts and prayers are with you both! I was so saddened to hear about Rose’s passing. Like so many I’ve been reminiscing about memories that I have and hold that are so near and dear to me.

As I put my children to bed the other night we prayed for Rose. Of course I was flooded with questions of who she was and why I was so touched by her. After sharing many wonderful memories about her with my boys I realized what a true gift Rose was to so many.

I think this Christmas as we listen to the Nutcracker we may all stop and think about the wonderful times Rose provided us all. I’m sending out love and hugs to all during this difficult time!

Rose you were everything to your students and me during the years I spent performing and teaching at your studio. You gave me a second chance at my career when I needed it most. I will forever hold you near and dear to my heart and love you so! I am so thankful for those years I spent with you. You will be dearly missed by all. The impact you had on all the young lives you touched was greater than words can say. I send love to Sonia and Bernie and all those who had the opportunity to be touched by Rose!

The artistic community of dance, creativity, commitment and passion that Rose built, touched and brought together so many people and shaped my young life. I was so sorry to hear the sad news of her passing. Sonia and Bernie, I am very sorry  for your loss. Rose was so much larger than life that it’s almost incomprehensible she could be gone. Rose was also an excellent cook, a cat and dog lover, a gardener, and made the best egg nog I’ve ever had in my life.  Sending greetings to all the old friends out there, and love and comfort to Sonia and Bernie.
