Ronald's Birthday — with Workshop participants from various parts of Egypt

We first met Ronald Sultana nearly 2 decades ago at a conference in Warsaw. This acquaintance grew over the years to various professional collaborations in several countries and more importantly to a special friendship. When he invited us to his beautiful country, he was our very erudite tour guide. He took us all around Malta through ancient, cobbled streets to megalithic temples to village fairs, stunning views of the ocean and even to the top of a church belfry… while the huge bells were pealing! And of course, we received fascinating historical, political, anthropological and sociological lectures from the professor about all that we saw! It was during these walks that a deep friendship bloomed between us, characterized by Ronald’s genuineness, kindness and deep affection. Ronald was always there for us… someone we could turn to both professionally and personally. He leaves a void that cannot be filled. Perhaps someday there will be acceptance of his passing … but because of what he leaves behind in our hearts, he will not die. Farewell dear friend, and although you did not believe in them (!), may flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.

May GOD grant you Eternal rest dear Cousin Ronnie and give COMFORT  to your dear family and relatives whom they loved you so much. You will be greatly missed by us ALL.

This is such a shocking and sorrowful news to comprehend and process...My warmest condolences to the family... Ronald touched so many lives all around the world with his vast knowledge and wisdom...

We will always remember him with pleasant and warm memories...

Also, let me extend the sincere condolences of the Turkish colleagues whom he has contributed a lot in their work.

May God rest his soul!

I’ve known Ronald for over thirty years, first as a student, then as a colleague in the same faculty. During the last year, we sat on the same committee and met more often. Without him, the faculty is poorer - his scholarship was so self- evident that he commanded respect….in his typical gentle way.  He had a habit of sending me links to articles and books that he knew I would be interested in. I guess it was his way of keeping in touch with me, but it seems clear now that he did this with many other people. He will be missed by many.
Farewell to a true gentleman. The field of career development is richer and wiser because of Professor Sultana’s work.

I cannot begin to express how deeply saddened I am by the news of Ronald’s untimely passing. He was a truly unique and cherished friend, a highly esteemed and gifted academic colleague, a wonderful and always generous human being who enriched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

My heartfelt condolences to Roseline and family. You are very much in our thoughts at this difficult time.

Ronald was a great person, a teacher and researcher of deep and open culture, and a lovely friend. We travelled together throughout Italy to meet career guidance practitioners and teachers and we shared unforgettable memories. He gave his huge and valuable contribution to improve career learning in Italy. I am sending my heartfelt condolences to Ronald's family, sons and grandchildren.

To Roseline, Daniel and Sarah, Sam and Stephanie, Ron's 3 precious grandsons and wider family, my deepest condolences and love. I cannot know the depth of your pain and sadness at this time, but I do know how vast Ron's pride and love for his family have always been, and I hope that you can hold it close now and always.

I have many memories of Ron, but what runs through them all is the consummate attention he gave to every situation, whether it was conversation with friends around the dinner table, planning and running a conference, writing a book or report, speaking at an international forum, or mentoring students and colleagues.  Ron saw the big picture as well as all the details. He knew when to be serious and when to joke. He poured himself into every situation in his life with brilliance, energy and generosity.

Joe and I will miss him terribly. We are so proud and grateful to have been his friends.

Arohanui,

Kathryn

Dear Rosalind and family,

I am so sorry for your great loss of your husband, father and grandfather. I do not think I have any words of consolation because there aren' t any. Except that he lived his life to the fullest and he taught me so much both as his student and a colleague like he did with many many other students and colleagues. May you find the courage to bear his loss.

Rest in peace Ronald.

With love to you all,

Simone Galea

Dear Prof. Sultana,

I want you to know that I will keep you in my heart forever. I am proud I have completed my Masters degree at EMCER thanks also to your constant guidance and support. You took care of me from the start like a daughter and continued to do so till the end. We shared a special bond because you were so proud of your Gozitan roots inherited from your beloved father who was a Gozitan from Xaghra. I am sure you are now having the best conversations with him in heaven.

Condolences to all the family and friends.

I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Ronald, an esteemed academic and colleague at the Faculty of Education, University of Malta.  It was a privilege to have him as my lecturer of sociology during my B.Ed. course, and later as a colleague.  He was an icon of the Maltese education system; admired by many who sought his advice;  a testament to the profound influence he had on students and colleagues alike.     His passion for teaching was inspirational to many. He was always willing to share a word of wisdom.  During this difficult time, my heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. May the memories of his guidance and dedication bring comfort to those who mourn his loss. May you Rest in Peace Ronald.

Dear Ronald,

During these past three years as your colleague at the Faculty of Education you continually encouraged and empowered me through your words and wisdom. I will never forget the day you invited me to lecture in one of your study units and the smile we exchanged as I passed by your office a few days before you started living in our hearts. You will never be forgotten Prof, keep watching your family, friends, colleagues and the thing that made you live like there is no finishing line and that will keep you with many in their spirit - education.
