We remember being with Ron and Barb in Texas when Kevin and Mun Sok were married. Then Cheri and Rick brought Ron to our home so Ron could see Dick’s woodworking shop. He was a very special man and will be missed! We are so sorry for your loss.

Ron was a wonderful friend to our family and he will certainly be missed. We are sending prayers to his family, friends and former students.

Dick and Kathy Woolison

Like everyone I have so many great memories of Mr. D. Sadly not many pictures. Raft camping trips for the Camping & Expedition Management class, getting stuck on an island while backpacking at Dolly Sods because overnight rain brought Red Creek up too high to cross and do the actual backpacking. Winter trip, winter trip, winter trip - aka Southern River Expeditions, aka swim time for my first year and looking up to see that calm expression from Mr. D to say that it will be alright.  The importance of a flat fell stitch for tent seams. Trying to make Wet Willie stay in place in the Yough so we could practice rope rescues. Jokes and stories around the campfire. Advice, support, laughs, watching westerns, DIY gear,  and so much more. Thank you so very much Mr. D! You are missed!
I am so grateful for having Ron as my big brother. He was a great role model and friend. I will cherish our memories forever.

I feel so lucky to of had him as an instructor. I remember him saying on a river trip that if you weren't falling in/getting wet you weren't trying hard enough! I still keep that in mind today, only now in the ocean. Thanks for sharing your passion, expertise and joy for adventure with all of us students, Mr. D.
