On June 18 - Father’s Day we unveiled Roman’s gravestone!
My beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend finally got his designated resting place, where we can a visit him, remember him, and even see some important moment of his life which are reflected in this monument!
I would like to describe its connection to Roma’s life, and our life!
The shape of the stone looks like a sail and rough surface on each side like waves.
Yes, that was our life. We were sailing thru it together for 56 years (wedding rings and the date in the centre of the stone)!
Our life had some ups and downs similar to a boat rolling over the waves but, we always, always confidently moved forward!
Roma had many interests in his life, but his passion since he was in his 30th was Artificial Intelligence (AI) and continued thru his life. He was one of the pioneers in this area, developing a few applications that were ahead of their time and working on algorithms how to teach computer learn like humans! This passion represented here by picture of the brain with letters “AI” inside.
We loved traveling. We were traveling around the world by cars, and cruise ships, but traveling by sailing boats was another passion for Roma! He admired enormous open ocean. He liked jumping and swimming in deep water like a fish.
He loved when boat was moving and he was sitting on a bow and felt wind blowing in his face and being overwhelmed with the feeling of flying or; at night moving quietly under the stars, watching galaxies, constellations and feeling that you are part of this universe! These were amazing feelings and reflected in Monument as well!! (little boat under stars)
Roma loved reading, but he also enjoined composing poetries and songs where he expressed his thoughts and feelings for friends and loved ones.
One of his poem/songs was dedicated to me on my birthday. It is represented here by just two lines :
“Елочка любимая … самая красивая …
счастье это значит быть всегда с тобой”
English :
“…the most beautiful beloved Elochka .. happiness means … always being with you “
That is why a “elochka” (xmas) tree was carved in this stone and we are together forever!
“we laughed a lot lot…
we loved each other…
we lived happy life...
we are together forever”
I missed him so much, but I am happy that we lived very active, challenging, exciting, interesting life and I have many wonderful memories. I’m always happy to share them with someone and mostly with my children and grandchildren!
Thank you all who is reading this post and remembering Roman.
