It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Rolf David Odegard on May 27, 2023. Rolf was born on July 9, 1962 in Kansas City, MO, to David Rolf Odegard and Janet Thiem Odegard. He was the first of their two children. Rolf was a kind-hearted, gentle-spirited, playful, and friendly man who will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

Rolf is survived by his children, Erik Odegard and Gabrielle Laughlin; sister, Gretchen Hernandez; ex-wife, Janice Odegard; grandchildren, Owen and Emma Odegard; son-in-law, Beau Laughlin; daughter-in-law, Morgan Odegard; brother-in-law, Dan Hernandez; nephew, DJ Hernandez; and niece, Bailey Hernandez. He was predeceased by his father, David Rolf Odegard, and his mother, Janet Wagner.

Rolf graduated from Oak Park High School in 1980. After serving in the Navy, Rolf graduated with Degree of Associate of Applied Science in Electronics Engineering Technology from Arkansas College of Technology. In 1989, Rolf married Janice Odegard (Findley) and together they had two children, Erik on November 6, 1989, and Gabrielle on April 5, 1991. Throughout his life, Rolf was passionate about his work as a highly skilled carpenter. He worked for Straub Construction for over 15 years. He also dedicated several years to coaching for Platte City Youth Soccer.

Rolf was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs - gameday on Sunday was a family affair and Rolf was the host. He enjoyed golfing and was always listening to his music. He regularly helped others - using his carpentry skills to bless others in need. Rolf's greatest accomplishment, however, was raising his two wonderful children.

A funeral service for Rolf Odegard will be held on June 3, 2023, at 10:30 AM at 4214 NW Cookingham Dr., KCMO 64164. There will be a light lunch to follow, during which guests will be able to share their fondest memories of their family member and friend. The 2:00pm graveside internment will be for immediate family.
