Steve Stark

Rolf and I received scholarships to play soccer at Johnson County Community College.  So, after high school graduation, we learned about 4 JCCC baseball players moving into an Olathe duplex and they needed 2 more people, so Rolf and I moved in and we had 6 people (4 baseball players and 2 soccer players) in a 4-bedroom 1/2 duplex.  It was the first time we ever lived outside of our family homes.

We had a blast, traveling around the mid-west playing soccer for JCCC, and there were some wild road trips!  Meanwhile there some great parties at the 1/2 duplex, including one toga party that was epic!  Rolf and I would laugh every time the topic came up.

It was a great time in our lives.  I'll always remember the carefree and fun-loving Rolf during that time.  In addition, he was an ass kicking soccer player and brought a lot of joy to his teammates at JCCC.

I remember one early morning when Rolf wanted to play a joke on the baseball players in the duplex and he put on a Pink Floyd song with loud bells ringing and woke everyone up at 4:30 a.m.

I still think of Rolf and all the fun and adventures we had growing up, and then going off to college at JCCC, and the wild and wonderful times we had there.

Rolf is not with us physically, but his memory and legacy lives on in all who had the pleasure and gift of knowing him.  He was a wonderful friend and person.

May he rest in peace and perpetual light shine brightly on him.

Still missing you Rolf, wish you was still here, would have Love for you to come along with Donna and I with Gretchen and Dan to Florida.  We aways have a Great time. You being there would have made it even better.  Love and miss you Brother Rolf. Andy

I remember Rolf when he was just a little guy at Odegaard family reunions. He and his 5 boy cousins once ganged up on teenage cousin, Scott, and pummeled him with socks. They had a wonderful time!

I also remember wandering with Rolf around a historical town on the river near KC and having a lovely time  he was so sweet and comfortable to be with.

I knew Ody from when we both worked at Straub. He taught me a thing or two about carpentry and rock and roll and shared a lot of laughs. I moved from KC over ten years ago. Through that time Ody always kept in touch. He was a good friend and I'll miss him.
I am so incredibly sorry to read this. Ive known Rolf for over half my life. I have genuine respect and affection for him. Our blessings and condolences are extended to Gretchen, Dan, DJ and Bailey, and Eric and Gabby and their families.

My first memory of this amazing guy was when I was 5 and my brothers would come home from roaming the neighborhood going on about this freckled face little kid called Wasp 😂…the kids couldn’t pronounce his name !

We moved away before I came to know him but then by sheer irony or maybe destiny my family returned to the same neighborhood 11 years later and we moved in right across the street !

We became fast friends and remained so even now . We grew up together ! Rolf and me did so much together so many adventures and stories…frisbee, soccer of course…billiards , golf, snow skiing , concerts and on… Rolf was a prolific athlete so he beat me at most things , just not  billiards or chess !

Rolf was a neighborhood fixture always outside kicking that soccer  ball up in the air …it seldom ever touched the ground ! He was awesome.

Our favorite thing to do was to sit at night up on the rooftops contemplating deep philosophy and the spectrum of life and time . We were pals and I am sad now …but then Rolf was quite close to Jesus and I know they are together.

I will see you on the other side my pal . I do much appreciate you and your genuine friendship to me …

Peace to you Odegard,

Piercy

My condolences to the Odegard family and friends. I have had a few good friends in my life and Rolf was one of the absolute best. He was a fella, nobody better .
I meet Rolf and Jan when my Father and Janet got married. We became friends,  a few years later I would visit My father and Janet in Little Rock from St. Louis and Rolf and Jan would come by and we go out and hang out we became brothers.  When Gretchen and Stormy moved Dad and Janet to KC, I would visit,  then Dad passed,  I would still visit after,  Janet, Rolf and Gretchen had become my family.  Rolf and I had became close,  not only friends but brothers.  I will miss you Rolf.  I love you.  Andy

In many ways, to me it is as if I have known Rolf all of my life. We first met at a get together at my house. We are all so young. Gretchen and I were best friends and he was her brother.  So, of course, he was welcome.

Sometime later that evening, there was a knock at the door, when I looked, there were two Navy fellows in their “Crackerjack” uniforms on the other side. Gretchen ushered them in and introduced me to her brother, Rolf.

He was kind and polite. I remember thinking that he looked like his Mom.

I didn’t see him again until a few years later. When we all ran into each other again, he had married Jan (Janice Findley) and they had baby Erik.  Gabby was not far behind.

In a few years, we, all, had became lifelong friends.

So, to my beloved friend, Rolf…Godspeed, my brother. Thank you for the memories we all shared. They will last throughout my lifetime.

Oh, and pick a flower for me  and give to your Mom ♥️♥️♥️.

I grew up with Rolf, living across the street. The learning of his passing grieves me. He was a good friend. We had a lot of fun growing up, and I will miss him a lot. I know that he is with the Lord now because he had a relationship with God, and will see him again in heaven. I feel so bad for his family, and will try and be there for his service.

I only knew Rolf as a little boy. My mother was his mother's sister. We stayed with the Odegards when I was 15 and Rolf was 7. I had heard stories that had been relayed to my mother by my grandmother. We heard about Rolf putting the family cat in the clothes drier and losing his shoe in a corn field. I remember him as an energetic, fun loving little boy with freckles across his nose and curly, strawberry blonde hair. He was a delight to the whole family, especially to his mother. At the ripe old age of 15 I had trouble keeping up with him during the few days we stayed with his family. He followed his mother, Aunt Janet, much too closely in his exit from this world. They are surely together in a better one now.
